Late News: Send Free SMS With The All-New Chikka!

I was surprised when I added a friend in my Chikka account. She told me that my age was 16 in my Chikka profile and then I realized that I have been using Chikka for 6 years now. I still didn’t know the IE and FF that time, yet I have a Chikka account before getting to know the web browsers and the world wide web. My Chikka ID was still in the old format: 00XXXXXXX. The new Chikka IDs are now your mobile phone number or you can opt to use your e-mail address.
All New Chikka
I know this post seems to be quite late because Chikka has updated to Web-Based Chikka 2.0 last February 2008. But since I was very happy of their service and the improvements that they made to serve us better and giving us free SMS, I will be reviewing their all-new Chikka service.

For over the years, Chikka had done quite well. I mean not just quite well, but more than expected. They had improved their service from time to time. I still remember the days when I can use Chikka to flood one’s mobile phone with repeated messages. Haha! I did it just to annoy my friends. Sending them a lot of messages until they were tired in erasing each SMS from me. After Chikka was made aware of this abuse, they updated their system and limited the sending of SMS from your PC. After that update, Chikka SMS service was not abused anymore and I’m one of the saddest abusers in the Philippines until today. (Hahaha, Joke lang)

I also remembered the days when I’m using Chikka to text one of my college classmates. After sending an SMS from Chikka, he replied: “Wow, hi tech ka na ah, ibang klase ang number mo! Paano yan?” and I told him that “Sa computer lang to, gamit ko PC pang text basta may internet makaka text ka na!” then he replied again “Wow cool! Hi tech na hi tech na talaga tayo ngayon! ma try nga yan“. From there on, a lot of my friends and classmates are now using Chikka.com to send free SMS to their family and friends.

This year, Chikka made a gigantic leap to further improve their free services for us. From their primitive PC-based messenger to a web based messenger, sending Smart E-load and Globe Autoload using your Paypal credits, sending SMS world wide for only 10 cents per text message, all-in-one messenger wherein you can login your Gtalk, YM, MSN, ICQ, and AIM, and a whole lot more of free services!

In the coming months, the All-new Chikka will also support social networking and user-generated content (UGC), hallmarks of the new breed of popular sites on the Web 2.0 platform. Chikka users will then be able to set-up personal profiles and upload photos within their assigned user page. Now that’s cool eh?

And before I forget, Chikka is giving away iPod Touch, Nano (3G), and Shuffle. For more information about their promo, read their mechanics.

This was really another innovation that will make us all Pinoys proud here and abroad.
