What’s the best Internet Service Provider (ISP) in the Philippines?

Ok, I’ve been offline for 2 days straight “AGAIN” because of Smart Bro’s Awesome Internet Connection and I can’t blame myself of choosing it as my ISP due to the fact that I already knew that it really sucks, still, I made my dumb choice to go for Smart Bro.

Smart Bro
All Internet Service Providers had their own “Negative Reviews” that’s why I can’t decide myself which of them is better than the other. I only know few ISPs here in the Philippines (excluding Smart Bro): Globelines Broadband, SkyBroadband,Sky Cable’s ZPDee, DigitelOne DSL, Bayantel DSL, Meridian Telekoms Broadband and PLDT MyDSL.

What I’m trying to do now is to solicit comments from you, my dear readers, of what’s the best Internet Service Provider in the Philippines from your own experience because I’m planning to dump Smart Bro and move to a brand new ISP after suffering internet havoc for 48 hours straight.

Hoping to hear from you guys… :(

Hello, I had PLDT before, I had Globe broadband before and I also had Digitelone. all of them have gud and bad sides. but the worst is Digitelone and PLDT. Imagine nyo ultimo field technician nila di alam ginagawa. The reason I was able to say this is I use to be a tech support for a router before so my idea ako sa mga pinag gagawa nila. . and FYI kung 1MB ang internet connection ang binabayaran mo every month, dapat atleast 70% - 80% ang speed na makukuha mo out of 1MB. yan dapat ang average speed mo araw araw. now this company thinks that all end user does not know this. kapag bumaba ka sa 70% ng 1MB it means they are not giving what they promise and what we are paying. request ka na dapat nun ng rebate. the problem with end user is haggat may connection gamit lang ng gamit. so di mo ma notice na mabagal na pala connection mo unless abutin ka ng mahigit sa 1min para sa isang website. tapos dun ka palang mag rereklamo. pero kung agresibo ka na i check lagi ang speed mo di sila makaka takas sayo at di ka nila ma loloko. I would also advise is use speedtest.net and 2wire.com to compare the speed na nakukuha mo para sure ka kung ano talaga average speed. Lets face it all ISP nag kaka problema tama but go to ISP na madaling kausap sa rebate and mabilis umaksyon sa problema. kasi kung di nila kayang ayusin sigurado ako na mag rebate yan sayo kaya di ka lugi. Ang masama kung mabagal na wala pang balik bayad. And ma advise ko lang sa lahat na wifi is still wifi. di parin mananalo ang wifi compared sa wired connection, mapa cable pa yan or phone line. ang problema kasi babagal talaga internet connection mo haggat dumadami ang gumagamit at nag share ng isang connection. so I would like to correct one post here na kung gagamit ka ng router eh di babagal internet connection mo. that is not true.
same with internet connection. Sana nabigyan ko kayo ng mahalagang ways to find the best ISP.

First of all, I am a hater of SMART services though GLOBE isn’t too far away. They both suck. I just have to let this out.

And now here’s my unbiased experience.

The ISP’s here in PH depends greatly in your area to function properly. You need to do your homework if you are to subscribe to any of them.

i.e. PLDT myDSL has excellent speed, stability and customer support in the “heart” of Baguio City, elsewhere, just plain sucks. In QC and Paranaque very unstable. So if i am in Baguio i’d definitely go for PLDT hands down. Too bad i think they cannot afford any more slots.

BayanDSL is pretty impressive in NCR better than PLDT i would strongly imply.

SmartBro unlimited = Great in areas where there is minimal connection, less clutter. As they send the signal through towers very low tech if you ask me. But you could get away with it if you’re not sharing your bandwidth. In Baguio where there is plenty of connection already, forget it and you’ll be happy just the same.

Prepaid SmartBro, Globe = The only good thing i can say here is that they’re the cheapest HSDPA gadget around. And since it’s made for surfing and for people on the go, i will give it a 4/10. Under a tower however i’ll give it 9/10. I reached 1.5mbps there max with stable connection. But of course, kinda defeats its purpose.

Globe wireless = SmartBro is better.
Globe landline + DSL = Same as PLDT only cheaper and slightly lagging behind in speed. This is my current connection as PLDT DSL isn’t available here in my current location. I don’t know in other areas though.

    Final words.
Survey your location, gather as much information you can. More connection means more clutter but not necessarily. As long as they have available slot for you(outside NCR), go for PLDT. Within NCR go Bayantel. Else go GlobeDSL(landline).
