What’s the best Internet Service Provider (ISP) in the Philippines?

If you’re looking for ISP comparison in the Philippines, then this post is for you. I’ve been offline for 2 days straight—again—because of Smart Bro’s Super Fast Internet Connection. I can’t blame myself because I’m still using it as my main internet service provider even if I know that it sucks bigtime.

Smart Bro

All ISPs in the Philippines are not perfect. They can’t guarantee 100% up-time and all of them have negative reviews. This is one of the many reasons why Filipinos can’t decide which is best and which is the worst. Here are the current commercial internet service providers in the Philippines (excluding Smart Bro): Globelines Broadband, SkyBroadband,Sky Cable’s ZPDee, Sky Internet, DigitelOne DSL, Bayantel DSL, Meridian Telekoms Broadband and PLDT MyDSL.

What I’m trying to do now is to solicit comments from you, my dear readers, of what’s the best Internet Service Provider in the Philippines from your own experience because I’m planning to dump Smart Bro and move to a brand new ISP after suffering internet havoc for 48 hours straight.

Hoping to hear from you guys…

UPDATE 07/27/09: Here is the top 10 list of Internet Service Providers in the Philippines according to SpeedTest.net. I can only name two commercial ISPs in the screenshot below: Sky Broadband and Sky Internet (Now BayanDSL). Most of the ISPs in the list are now commercially available. If you’re working in one of the DOST offices in the country, you’re very lucky because you can experience the fastest upload and download speed in the Philippines. Here’s the screenshot of the Top 10 ISPs:

      • i think it also depends on the area.. i’m using smartbro canopy for over a year now and ok naman siya.. 2 times pa lang yata ako tumatawag sa customer care to report a problem. what sucks is the smartbro usb modem… and i heard that smart is going to release a LTE USB modem which will give speeds up to 50 mbps daw.. hmmmmm! thanks mr jehzlau for starting this blog.. it has been my hobby to read the comments here! :)

      • haha.. natawa naman ako sa comment ni nana. kung makapagsermon wagas! iba ang cable internet sa dsl internet. cable internet uses the cable infrastructure to provide internet connection while dsl uses the telephone line. kung titingnan mo young modems nila, magkaiba. sky internet is an example of cable broadband while pldt provides dsl.

:ipit:

    • tried smart ung my canopy, mejo ok nmn.globe tattoo, mejo mbilis, pro mdls down, pti lndline, nwwlan ng dial tone.now pldt kmi, bundled 1,299 mbgl po.san andres manila loc nmin..:(

    • kua, ISP never commits na di sila magdodown and sabihin mo eh yung di madalas magdown.. Almost 20% of their service have Plant activities and Plant repair. Walang perpektong ISP, it just the ideal ISP you should choose..

  2. PLDT DSL and smart bro both sucks.

I think naka 1 year din kami. Smart bro and dial-up are equal in speed WTF. Mabilis pa ang ISP Bonanza. hirap lalo na kapag may bagyo. WALANG SIGNAL!

Sky Cable Zpdee, according to an online friend, minsan, walang connection for an hour. Better than PLDT DSL huh? 12-24 hours no connection.

Satisfied, contented and magaan sa bulsa. Last May lang kami nagpakabit, hindi maiiwasan may downtime, but unlike PLDT, Digitel Downtime only takes a minute!

      • Hi ms.

    • @ada thay both suck?? this is just a proof of your ignorance… nakadepende po yan sa lugar, bandwith etc… san ka ba kasi nakatira sa bukid?? mag sms ka na lang

      • @nana

Hey dude watch your language you keep on insulting people on this thread don’t you have something to say informative to help other people rather than saying negative things. Its not helping

  4. @jamie – ok.. 1 point for Globliness :D heehee…

:D hehe

about Fiber Optic Cable.. ISP ba yan? hmmmm… never heard of it before.. hehe

  8. @Blogger Gusher – may globebroadband sa kapitbahay.. hindi rin stable.. pero far way more better than Smart Bro parin, kasi Smart Bro talaga ang pinaka pangit sa buong daigdig na connection eh.. hehe :D

@Mighty – sige I’ll consider Bayan DSL sa list ng kukunin ko kasi konti lang din negative reviews based sa Google, hmmmmmmmmmm…. isip pa ako.. hehe Thanks :)

@Jan Alvin – wow naka FOC ka ba? hehehe.. sa dagat talaga yung cable? san pwede mag apply dito sa Pilipinas? may website ba sila na pwedeng tingnan? :D

  9. sad to hear to Jehz… Ako am not experiencing any technical difficulty so far as my Smart bro is concern..

  10. @alma buenviaje – Hmmmmmmmm… Globe Visibility is different from Globe Broadband ba? hmmmmmmm…

@juler – sana malapit din ako.. lipat nalang kaya ako dyan banda.. taga san ka ba? hehehehe :D or dapat mag patayo nalang smart bro ng cell site every 100 meters.. heehee :D

I prefer the second choice hahah patayo ka na updates us pag tapos na! :D

Super Bilis! As in pag nagdownload ka ng torrents eh ang DOWNLOAD SPEED ay almost 1 gbps.

So far, zpdee ang pinakamabilis. Basically, basta cable internet (hindi DSL or ADSL), paniguradong mabilis un.

@Ederic – hmmmmm.. 2 points for Bayantel.. mag babayentel nalang cguro ako.. or yung DigitelOne.. hehe

I’m a SmartBro subscriber, onti pa lang na-encounter kong problems… Pero malala.

Now, good luck na lang sa pagpili ng ISP. :-)

  16. @Kenneth – ako na yata ang pinaka malas na tao sa mundo.. sobrang pag papa hirap ng smart bro ang dinaranas ko araw araw.. huhuhuhu :( sana makapili ako ng magandang ISP.. waiting for more comments :D hehe

  17. correct me if I am wrong, ang alam ko Meridian din ang main provider ng Smart which is affiliated sa PLDT, and nde maganda experience ko about Meridian. So kahit cguro T1 pa connection mo dito sa beloved Philippines may maeencounter ka talaga problem e, choose the lesser evil na lng hahaha and hope for the best. One reason din siguro is yung physical connections dito sa pinas is not that good particularly sa Manila, kita mo nman yung wires ng PLDT at meralco nde mo na alam which is which hahaha. Good luck sa search mo ng provider

  18. @Jerson – hehehe.. Meridian pag walang Globelines sa office.. hehehe the good old days :D Pero thanks sa input, di ko alam na Meridian at Smart ay iisa lang :D hmmmmmmm…
Maraming nagsasabi maganda Bayan DSL at mas mura ata, pero try ko muna inquire.. ngayon down to 2 choices na ako.. Bayan DSL at DigitelOne DSL.. hehehe.. hirap kasi dito nasa liblib ako ng maynila, mahirap maka kuha nag SEGnAL :( hehe

@Cesar Noel – that’s 3 points for Bayan DSL.. makabayan talaga ang Bayan, mukhang mag babayan DSL ako ah.. pero mag hihintay parin ako baka may iba pang violent reactions at comments tungkol sa Bayan DSL :)

  19. @James – mga gano kadalas nag kaka problema? once a month? weekly? hehehe.. if once a month or once every 2 months.. ok na ok na yan :D

4 points for Bayan DSL! whoa!

  20. great Q. i’ve been thinking about this of late since the hubby and i might go back to manila soon. still, there’s a lot of room for improvement in the next few years ;-)

  21. walang may mas pinaka magandang ISP dito sa Pinas…lahat poor quality eh..I am using the services of Globe Broadband, but to tell you frankly Im not satisfied…

  23. Bayan DSL for me. Kasi mabilis ang download speed, hindi palaging nag o offline, mga once or twice a month lang, pero minutes lang naman, kung e compare mo sa iba na palagi, like smart bro, more than 50% ng internet users halos walang internet for 1 week sa smart bro, based on the statistics yan ah…

Kaya, based sa mga comments mo dito at sa mga reviews ng ibang blogs, the best na ISP in the Philippines as of today is Bayan DSL, so Bayan DSL ka na!

  24. I had PLDT DSL for around a year until the great earthquake arrived and killed it. I then switched to Smart Bro, which to my surprise, was more stable. They also have better customer service.

I’d say the best would be Globe broadband if you want uber fast downloads(but aren’t into online games) and Smart Bro if you’re a WoW/Cabal/etc player.

  26. Smart Bro really sucks. Dapat in the first place hindi ka nag smart bro, alam mo naman na sayang lang pera, may 1 year contract pa sila para di ka maka alis sa Smart Bro, bwisit talaga ang Smart Bro.

I recommend Bayan DSL or Globliness Broadband :)

Try mo mag internet tapos check mo anong ISP nila.. karamihan Bayantel

  28. Hello! Well i am one the frequent user of Internet at least 8 hours a day. I am using MyDSL PLDT though not as fast as they promised and publish in the papers but i would say a bit reliable. P990 plan is what i have. the downside of it is that during download and uploading, you will be left waiting for a while and such that you have to call them to report your dismay about the speed. Just give it a try…… this includes a land line whick is an added positive point.

    Alex dela Paz

  29. It really depends sa location mo. Minsan mabagal pero nadadaan sa restart ng modem at router (or unplugging other people connected to the router). Medyo ayoko lang sa tech support nila pero recently, after one call and 3 callbacks, nagpadala sila ng tech. I’m on 1mbps speed plan and I get around 1.4-1.5 mbps when I’m downloading (although depende rin sa location ng servers).

@Alex de Lapaz – thanks sa pag comment :D that’s another point for PLDT MyDSL! Yay! 2 points na! :D

@jemme – uy jemme! thanks! that’s another point for Bayan DSL, 5 points na.. and Meridian 2 points :D haha!

@Charlyn – thanks charlyn, that’s 6 points for Bayan DSL and 2 points for Globe! yay!!! :D

Globe Broadband 3 points! :D

@RJ – that’s 4 points for Globe Broadband! yeah may potential din ang Globe Broadban, at pag mag down sila ni rerefund nila ilang days ka nag down, gaya ng land lady ko may 5,500+ pesos rebate siya from Globe di sya mag babayad ng limang buwan.. astig no? And smart bro walang paki alam pag mag down ka.. di sila nag bibigay ng Rebate! BWISIT ANG SMART BRO! MAY CONTRACT NA WALA PANG REBATE!!! hehehe…

@Lyn – That’s another point for Bayantel DSL or Bayan DSL! yay! 8 points na so far I think.. hehehe.. basta leading ang Bayan :D naks! makabayan talaga sila :D

@Jan Alvin – 1 point for FOB.. haha! magkano kaya yan.. pag yaman ko direct connection from Taiwan papa gawa ko.. hehehe :D

*bayan dsl bayan dsl bayan dsl* hehe

@ViNz – Hmmmmmmmm… oo nga naman.. baka mag Fiber Optic Cable nalang ako.. haha :D

@caryn – oo nga.. based sa comments ko.. may Bayan DSL ka na! hehehee.. lesser negative comments sila online based din sa Google SERPs :)

  31. hmmm… it really depends on your location. better mag-survey na lang yung computer shops sa malapit sa place mo kung anu ang provider nila kung ok ba.

try mo rin destiny cable internet. may cable internet ka na, may cable tv ka pa. most ng colleagues and former colleagues ko yun ang gamit at ayus naman ang work-from home connection nila dahil d2. “unlimited bandwidth” daw which would translate na yung bandwidth mo depende sa number of users at a given time.

kung afford mo naman, get a dedicated line to any telco’s backbone. at least T1 connection ayus na yun. di mo ka pa affected sa network congestion ng ordinary consumer dsl connections sa area mo. :) inquire ka pldt/globe or kung dollars ang rate ng gusto mo, try mo at&t or cable&wireless.

    • oo nga.. pero i think maayos nila to kahit pangit location ko.. mag papa dala sila ng tech bukas to fix my smart bro connection.. tumawag sila kahit di ako tumawag.. naka 18 missed calls pa sila sa phone ko.. pag ka gising ko. hinintay ko at tumawag ulit from 888, ayun sinagot ko.. at nagtanong ng probs with my net connection.. sinabi ko naman.. at aayusin daw nila kasi ng dis align daw antenna ko.. hehe

  32. All products and services in the philippine are big pain in the ass and nothing will change that issue… So far i hearing good feedback on Globe Broadband FYI singtel (singapore telecom) owns 47% of globe telecom no wonder why they have better service than stupid smart…. Pinoy businessmen only wants money and not total satisfaction for their customers.

  33. PLDT:
    connection – good
    CS – worse

    smartbro:
connection – good/bad: depende sa location.
    CS – good/bad?

    BayanTel:
    connection – verygood
    CS – verygood

    Globe:
connection – good download/not good on online games?
    CS – good

    myDestiny cable internet:
connection – verygood download, poor upload
    CS – verygood

    Eastern telecom:
    connection – good
    CS – good

Other ISP no idea coz i haven’t tried it yet. Currently i’m at Eastern telecom.

    • I have to disagree with this one regarding Destiny. It will be our 9th year as a Destiny Cable Internet subscriber next March and believe me… Destiny has one of the most incompetent TSRs out there. BELIEVE ME OR I’LL KILL YOU. just kidding

Seriously, Destiny used to be king of all broadband providers. They’re one of the first and used to be one of the finest. Now they suck :P

  34. @Dean – thanks for the comment dean :) nag susurvey na din ako sa mga internet cafe na malapit and most of them uses Bayan DSL. hehe

@POYTSPOT – thanks for the comment :D that’s another point for Globe, pero I agree with you, wala talagang matinong ISP dito sa pinas.. hehehe

@_LP – thanks for pointing out the pros and cons of each ISP in the Philippines LP :)

@Obnoxious Queer – wow great! ganda ng hate reviews mo sa globe.. now I’m erasing Globelines in my list.. haha

I’m considering DigitalOne and Bayan DSL sa list ko.. hehe

  35. Kuya Jehz!!

  37. I’m a Globe Broadband (with phone) subscriber. So far, i’m satisfied. I am in Pasig area. There were a few times that their service sucks. It’s been smooth lately.

    • wow.. oo nga i’ve heard that globe broadband has lesser downtime compared to smart bro.. hehe.. pero napa hanga ako sa smart bro today.. sila tumawag sa akin regarding my connection, kahit di ako nag inform, mag papa dala daw sila bukas ng technician :D

  38. They were calling you because they probably came across this post, that you are/were planning to cancel their service already and they also probably noticed that it has a LOT of replies, meaning a lot of people read your blog, and a lot of people will know/now knows/already knew but just didn’t complain enough how crappy their service is.

      • Well no matter how they send their “tech” people trying to resolve the issue, if it’s really something wrong with their network, I guess, pa-ulit2x parin ang problem.

Well, I think those local internet service providers knows their downside and I’m sure they are always eyeing on our reviews againts them. I can’t just imagine if I’m employed in their companies and many people are mad at them! hehehe… I’d rather not work! hehehe

  40. I was on SmartBro for a year then shifted to PLDT MyDSL after finishing my lockin period with them. Although, the speed was fine but when you have many things to do online, you will look for a faster connection. PLDT DSL was okay. Although there had been several crappy connections because of technical problems without prior notice. At least SmartBro is sending its subscribe a notice about an anticipated disconnection.

    regards,
    j

    • Thanks for sharing ARJE.. btw, smart bro fixed my internet connection, pinalitan nila ng base station kuno, as of now.. di na masyadong nag o offline, pero pag mag offline ulit to ng one week, bayantel DSL is my choice :)

  45. sir jez! naki hitch nlng ako sa post mu.. kasi nag hahanap din ako ng isp.. hahah.. i have read their comments and i got an idea now. ..

dito nga cebu globelines broadband kakainis ! waaaaaa.. i guess tama po kau na depende sa area… smart bro it sucks nga daw.. haha..

anyways.. i bet ill go for BayanTel DSL ? .. meron kaya dito sa cebu??.. i’ll tsik it nalang..

    thanks sa post mu.. hehehe..

    xoxoxo,

    webslave

  46. bad trip yang smart bro… halos 10 tech na ang nagpunta sa place ko para gawin ung connection nila, ni isa walang nagawa.. almost 1 month na akong walang internet, kung meron man sobrang bagal, mabagal pa sa pagong.. i dont reccomend this smart bro.. lilipat na nga ako mamaya… tanong ko kung merong cell site sila d2 sa pandacan… either globe or bayantel/….

  47. gamit ko DigitelOne DSL and it sucksss

    palagi nlng down

kahit cable nwawala ang connection amf…

no choice eh Globe @ Digitel lng meron d2

nag Digitel aq kasi Digitel na un phone ko shit sana pla nag Globe ako nun .

  48. okies…. so far JHEZLAU pinaka maraming comment dito… i gues i go for bayandsl… hope ok yan pare ha? hehehehe may lock in period pa kc one year mahirap na pag naka lock na … well see :-) im from southern leyte anywyz hope ok dito

  52. I got smartbro ,thought i made the right choice there tv ads said 10 mbs ,I’ve had it now for over three month have had a technician to try and fix problem with the canopy and hardware ,its been on the blink for two days now page errors local area connection problem not reading address correctly, and now i called they said it was my antenna the would call back within 24 hours to schedule service time for repairing my problem, why do we need them to put a canopy in a word document when the connection is in the cable and if you do system restore of your computer it really screws up that canopy and you will need another service call ,right or wrong its like ridiculous i think if it happens again i will switch , does any one know a beter choice i did a speed test im getting 380kbs download and 190,210 upload, but i am paying for 10 mbs ,what is that it sounds like fraud to me right or wrong,P.S. I am paying 997 a month for service any other provider better for the money

    • globelines broadband sucks here in la union … poor speed, unstable connection, poor service… since we subscribed april 2008 til now!

  53. In the past 2 years with SmartBro, I’ve only experienced one downtime. So far in our area, their service is really good, so I’ll just stick with them for now

  54. globe broadband kami dito sa bahay. at first touch and go, first week pa lang wala ng internet. kinulit ko ang customer service rep nila, im sure kilala na nila ako. mga 5 days pa bago dumating technician nila. nawala ulit after 2 weeks kaya pinanood ko na lang ang technician. ngayon pag biglang nawawala nire-reset ko na lang ang modem.

  55. this smart bro really sucks!!! i also am planning to terminate their services as soon as the globe ISP shall be available in our area. i think this will be a better alternative. you see we got no access to PLDT lines which should have been a better choice. Digitels DSL is also much better compared to Smart bro. faster at the same price.

    • i agree that smart bro suck but wait till you decide to shift on globe lines…read this blog first…
      http://meggara24.multiply.com/journal/item/24/Fuck_Globe_Visibility

still the best is an unlimited dial up connection here in cagayan de oro i use speedy internet service which i only pay for 200p a month..though the speed is very slow at least the connection is very stable and is really unlimited unlike globe which will charge extra kb if u exceed their unlimited usage limit… what!!!did i say unlimited???? hahahaha

  56. ived tried like all of the listed below, am located at n.fairview…….
first on smart bro, they offer fast reliable connection i had down connections on them and it took them like 2 weeks to repair, they promise rebate but never had it……
nxt is the nayan dsl, i had down connection also for 3 months, never had rebates also…. then the globe inet…. its even worst…. promised to give u 3mbs connections but u will get a 348kbps connection,,,,,,, so slow even windows updates dont work….. cant even open yahoo without loading…….. first time they install the connection it lasted like 30mins, then it went down… took them 2 months to repair dat was may and june 2008 after they fixed the problem they propted me to pay the reconnectionm and 800php for the 30mins connection… and it really pissed me off…… so otever connetion u have on the philippines really SUX…… maybe depends on the location u r currently on now…. ask first your neighbor wot are the using and reflect on it choose wot is best on your location…. peace

    Dear Sir/Madam:

We are a small parcel forwarding company that solicits customers worldwide in order to forward items that they may purchase in the USA. Usually the originating American merchants don’t ship to international destinations for whatever their reason.

  60. I have used wireless smart bro at 516 kbps and keep me in good connection for a whole year. Main problem if you intend to place a wireless router to share in the household you will keep on acquiring an IP address and will bother your connectivity and tech support will ask you to disconnect your router. Smart Bro has a quick fix program and will assist instantly in your connection problem. Very good I would say for a single PC.

Shifted to globe cable Internet at 1 mbps and keep me running good connection, accept router.

For mobility I used a Celfone from smart and is good for going thru your email and light surfing. It stall sometimes and connectivity is horrible at peak hours and weekend.

I tried a prepaid vissibility from globe which claimto run at 1.8 mbps. NOW THIS IS CALLED ‘HARANG’, This things runs like a dial up at 56 kbps and does it get higher than 256kbps in selected areas and the prepaid loading system is hackable. You load it, it get stolen immediately by hacker. Spread this around. MAIINIS KA LANG AT GUSTO KO NANG ITAPON DI MO PA MA IREFUND.

I will try smart bro mobile which they claim to run at 2 mbps. Will somebody give me a feed back so I will not run into a SCAM as globe vissibility

  61. I’ve used Smart Bro, and I think their service sucks.

I’m on Globe Broadband now. Overall, I’m satisfied with the service. I’m paying for 1 Mbps a month but I can download torrents at speeds of up to 300 kbps. But one thing that annoys me is the frequent disconnection. Sometimes, you get disconnected as often as every 5 minutes. And you’re unlucky if you get the IP address of their proxy servers. For an average surfer, maybe it’s ok. But for someone like me who plays online strategy games competitively, it gets really annoying. One disconnection = 1 loss. T.T

  62. Choose anything else just don’t make another mistake of trying DIGITELONE!
OMG. A big scam. You don’t get what you pay for. Not even the least minimum promised speed. I had it before and it is way slower than dial-up!!

  65. i’m a digitel subs. for me maganda naman ang service nila samin sa cabanatuan..my plan is 512 kbps but i get even better than that sa kbi ang speed ko umaabot ng 800kbps……
i think sa location lang talaga yan…

  66. ::Wow!! Its been a week na akong nag ba browzing sa internet kung ano ang maganda Internet Service Provider sa Pinas. Coz im planning to stay in Manila and bring my Laptop with me. So far, reading all these comments or i should say “negative comments” from different subscribers to different ISP. So FUCKING SAD!!.. Its a waste of money and time…

    • hehehe what do you expect hindi kasing ganda ang connection ng internet sa pinas kumpara mo sa US eh ganyan talaga ang buhay dapat lang matuwa ka kahit paano may internet sa pinas kung ako sayo Jon wag ka na pakabit ng internet sa pinas kasi masasayang lang pera at oras mo mag txt ka na lang ipa roaming mo na lang din  . but anyway, kaya ako nandito sa blog dahil nga nag search ako kung ano ang magandang ISP dyan sa pinas, specifically sa Davao City? wireless, Wi-fi or Lined connection. Mukhang maganda ang feedback ng wireless connection. ayos tong blog mo Jehz add ko to sa bookmark ko he he he

      • ::Well i guess pag dating na lang duon saka ako mag e inquires..According sa ibang comments dito. Dipende “daw” sa locations and service providers. Good luck sa Davao Peanut. Im hoping sa Manila, maganda ang ISP..

  67. Most of customers uses Smart Bro 999. Even all my family uses Smart Bro 999 too. There are few that ran into problem about using Smart Bro cause of their locations. But a lot of very remote location in Pinas has no choice but to use Smart Bro. When I do visit Pinas, during my traveling, I uses Smart SIM on my phone and connect it to my laptop for internet connection… which do me great because I could make calls back to the US that way. In conclusion, depending on your location and your situation, and based on my customers’ experiences Smart Bro gives a pretty descent service.

  68. gud day to all of you… i’m from cavite, i hav a smart bro connection, ala namang problems sa connection d2, but my problems with them is their customer service/support. I was disconnected 4 months already but I was still charged with those months and I was told to pay or else these bills will still earn interest as days goes by. So i don’t hav a choice but to pay them.

So if you’re a smart bro subscriber please if you don’t hav conncetions, report it immediately to avoid the continuous charging…. tnx

BUUUUUUUUUURAAAAAATT na BURAT na ako sa ganitong lifestyle, Day in Day out lagi nalang same routine

BULOK TLGA SMART BRO WALANG KWENTA!!

  71. It was my husband’s bday last dec 25…We talked through internet kasi he’s from canada…Omg…Nag start ba namang magloko ang smart bro dec24 ng gabi until new year..now i hate christmas and new year coz of that…(basically SMART BRO RUINED MY LIFE…lol). I kept calling them and they were giving reasons like it’s my computer…blah blah blah…My computer’s memory daw is low..When I was talking to one of their costumer service agents I was like “wtf?i called u yesterday and u told me that it’s my computer’s memory and then I fixed it,deleted a lot of stuff and still ganun pa rin”..(actually I knew it from the very start that it’s not my pc’s memory.I was just giving them the benefit of the doubt)
and then last month they cut my connection coz nalate akong magbayad ng 2 WEEKS..imagine with thier fuckin crappy connection, they have all the guts to do that.
I’m not gonna change to another isp coz I’ll be leaving for the states this year..and seriously kahit may recession dun..pipiliin ko parin dun kasi doon “WALANG SMART BRO”

  72. grabe, wala talagang kwenta Smart Bro. PInatanggal ko na ito 2 years ago, hearing na wala pa rin siyang kwenta makes me laugh. haha! so glad I am not a subscriber of them anymore. I am now into BayanDSL and so far, nothing MAJOR problem happened. Yep, I still experience slow downloads and minor connection issues pero hindi na po tumatagal ng ARAW, 1 or 2 hours lang meron na and call ka lang cgurado wala pang 1 oras gawa na UNLIKE SMarty Broken’s “knowledgeable” customer care who only knows to let you plug/unplug the adapter (hahaha!! alam ko pa siya haha) tapos kung anu-anong ka-echosan about my computer’s memory (jusko 2 GB po RAM ko anong klaseng internet ang uubos ng ganyang kalaking memory???!!) hhayy Go out na kayo sa SMart Bro… useless

source: EXPERIENCE KO SA SMART BRO FOR 1 YEAR

I’m not sure sa Metro Manila areas.

Please give me 1 or 2 the best ISP na reliable and accountable.. Please send me the links as well. Greatly appreciate it your concern..CHEERSS!! :) (Pls e-mail me direct) JonrayMontevour@Yahoo.

(Ex: Linksys or any BRANDS) And give me a good suggestions for less headache, wireless router ba or direct connection from desktop/laptop to router. ty, Cheers!! :)

    PLSSSS

    • You better get Bayan DSL plan 2,699. I think that’s the best so far, kaso may kamahalan nga lang. I think it’s worth it. :)

      • jehzlau,

Yung bayan dsl bah, saang area ng metro manila malakas yung koneksyon? kase kame either pasig area or mandaluyong area ng condo yung rerent namin,.

        may alam ka about dyan?

        Thanks sa reply mo ha

      • I’m not sure.

  77. I used to have smart bro (I was one of the early smart wifi users) and it used to be bad and it turned okay after a few years :( . But I dumped it because of the speed (384 kbps ???). I live in San Pedro Laguna and my connection was okay. My point is I guess getting a good smart bro connection depends on your location.

Now, I am using Globelines (with the landline). It is okay and a bit better than smart bro (1mbps in speed) but it also has its shortcomings.

But I’ll take Globe over Smart since Globe’s customer service is relatively “better” compared to Smart.

    • hi phaw, sa san pedro din ako nakatira and magpapakabit sana ako ng internet. nagre-research ako pero parang lahat ng ISP e “worst ISP in the world”.. mejo nakakataokt n tuloy.. pero anyway since nasabi mo n mas ok globe sa smart and since parehas tyong san pedro nakatira naisip ko bka ok n un nlng pakabit ko.. question is.. considering na last march p po yang post mo and it’s now september, can u still say na mas ok pa rin nga tlga ang globe? thanks in advance po for your help.

      • Actually, wala talagang magandang ISP ngayon.

  78. ok b ung sun cellular internet? meron n clng nilabas n 3G or 3.5G b yun at mabilis daw lalu n sa mtro manila area. at mura daw. ma search nga. wala lng…

  79. Mobile Internet still sucks, careful about buying any of those prepaid. I bought Smart and Globe and are terible. The Load could be stolen and parang dial up and speed. They claim a 2 mbps speed but may be applicable if you are under antena. Madaling sabi bulok and service sa mobile. Buti pa gumamit na lang celfone at good for 460 kbps. I don’t know about Sun Cellular mobile monthly bundled with P 350 suncel unlimited call and text. Digitel wired connection is bad in Angeles dami nagrereklamo dahil mabagal and patay patay ang connection, you could be offline for hours.

  80. Taga San Francisco/Daly City California ako using COMCAST Cable modem.

  81. help namn anu pwd nyo irecommend sakin? sa pampanga location q at wla pa globe internet d2 plus wla pa 3g d2 kaya dq magamit smart prepaid kit.

  82. I have just recently purchased and started using sun easy broadband. It’s service rendered at start around 5 days was really amazing. Unfortunately, lately, there has been noticeable decline in the net speed. I have enquired with nearest sun shop here in SM Valenzuela, but I was told there’s nothing that can be done since it has something to do with cyber traffic. I just wish this message won’t reach deaf ears this time and hope that Sun Cellular Nework/Digitel will do something about making their service rendered better. I have noticed that my connection was better when my IP was routed to Quezon. But ever since it was routed to Cavite it hasn’t been getting better at all, not even reaching 1mbps.I hope they do something bout this though. BUt so far, this has been better compared to my old mobile thingey which was from globe. It sure did sucked even more and it is even more expensive at 20 pesos per hour rate. I havent tried smart bro though and from the looks of it i won’t try it anymore.

  83. I’m from Dasma, Cavite.. What do you think is better PLDTmyDSL- which every pc shop here uses, or SkyBroadband- referred by a friend whose an ECE (maybe knows alot).

Thank you in advance for your feedbacks.

  84. What is the latest on the Smart Plan 999 and a 2,500 initial payment for the unit which claims a 3 mbps speed and works with a router to share the connection. Does it really have a 3 mbps speed. Too good to be true. Any comment before being a sucker again. Magaling sa marketing ang mga taga smart, globe and sun pero kulang sa performance and kanilang binibenta. Anybody who can warn me. Skybroadband, pwede kung you can afford it

  85. Pingback: Smart Bro, the worst Internet connection choice - Geekify your Brain

  86. Hi jehzlau,

I’m a user of Smartbro for the last 3 years (Bulacan area) and so far, its reliable naman although “occasionally”, nagdada-down sya for hours (min. 1 hour to max 1 day). I installed broadband as im working abroad and most of the time, skype and gtalk lang ang gamit nya, and yes, friendster para sa anak kong maporma. Most of the time, we can use 24 hrs without interruption pero several times we asked SMART to adjust our antenna to improve the signal. Now, after 3yrs we stop our smartbro service since we are moving to greenhills san juan. I already applied for GLOBE wired broadband w/ landline (1mbps speed daw) but not yet installed. Do you have some feedback on globe sa greenhills area? how about this globe prepaid tattoo which im planning to get also? pls share some inputs. cheers :)

    • Hello Markie,

  87. SKY BROADBAND TESTIMONY – Jan. 26 to May 6, 2009

I live in Makati and subscribed to SkyBroadband’s 12Mbps Platinum package at Php6,000+/month. The installation was Jan. 26, 2009 and it cost me Php5,999 cash up-front which was “supposed to” include a portion of the first month’s billing. Problems resolving this with their billing dept. occurred a month later.

The Internet speeds were as advertised for the first week of service. After that, I noticed a major decline in connectivity speed and began calling Tech Support, religiously for the next two months.

Unfortunately, Sky Broadband’s Tech Support is a call center, so every call is scripted: “did you reset your modem? did you check your router? what operating system are you running on your computer?”, blah blah… They can only “forward” your issue to a qualified technician — which can take anywhere from one day to never.

Evidently, most Philippines ISP tech support lines are either outsourced to call centers, or managed similarly to call centers. The best advice I received is to get the name, phone#, and email address of a “real” person within the ISP’s organization upon subscribing to any ISP in the Philippines. Ideally, this would be an account manager. Otherwise, expect limited tech support regardless of the ISP. You’ve been warned!

In the first week of April, I finally got a Sky Broadband field technician to visit my residence. He inspected all of my equipment: cable modem, Linksys/Cisco WRT310N wireless router, xBox360, and my laptop. According to the field technician, all of my equipment was working properly and he determined the source of my connectivity speed performance decline is OUTSIDE of my residence. I also made him document this for the record to Sky Broadband before he left, so it was supposedly filed in his report.

Two weeks after the field tech visited my residence, I noticed a week of increased speed connectivity. Coincidence? Unfortunately, it only lasted one week. Afterwards, speeds declined to a less-than average of 512kbps, and have maintained since then until today May 6th, 2009.

The irony is that I can visit Speedtest.net, and get some amazing results but when I’m surfing the Internet, my browser displays incredibly slow connectivity. This may suggest poor routing, or back-end special filtering apps which cripple typical Internet up/down traffic. Regardless, my 512kbps average surfing speeds are less than 5% of the advertised 12Mbps service I’m paying — which seems unacceptable to just about anyone, di ba?

Last week, a local IT expert suggested I try PLDT’s MyDSL at 3Mbps “for a while” and observe any difference in connectivity speed. He said that broadband Internet will be always be handicapped by multiple users sharing the primary connection. Unfortunately, I’ve read only negative comments re: MyDSL on just about every blog site in the Philippines, and I expect the worst. However, even if I can get 1.5 Mbps out of MyDSL’s 3 Mbps service, I will be tripling my current speed with Sky Broadband.

Anyways, that’s my story and this is where I’m at with all this ISP dogma in the Philippines. I’m an expat from the U.S. and I can see a lot of business opportunities for Filipinos but if the communication infrastructure cannot compete with Western standards, then I suspect any prosperity from such opportunities will simply remain out-of-reach for the Philippines in general. But isn’t it amazing that just about everyone has a cell phone? Hmmmm…

    • Thanks for sharing Marc! This is very disappointing because I’m planning to move to Manila just for better internet connection. I’m also a U.S. expat (just moved to philipines) trying to do business online. Here in Sabang, Puerto Galera there is only one ISP reseller (iMindoro) as far as I know and have been to their office several times. The four clowns who call themselves “IT guys” in that office, all they are doing is playing online games and file sharing. My source of income is from online and I may have to leave philippines because of the internet connectivity problem. If you find a better solution, please let me know. Thanks!

      • In general, MyDSL and all other DSL providers and packages suck. Bayan installed their 2.5Mbps DSL in my condo (central Makati) and the throughput measured 0.11Mbps. The Philippines is NOT the place to live if you’re trying to make a living online. Believe it or not, SkyBroadband is the best I’ve had so far and I still think it sucks.

      • That’s not good. Can you do me a favor Marc? You’ll save me a lot of headache if you do this. If my VOIP phone works OK with skybroadband, I’ll be fine. Can you go to the link below and see if your connection passes the VOIP test? You can either post the result here or email it to me at flymeaway66 [AT] yahoo.com.

        Here is the link:
        http://www.whichvoip.com/voip/speed_test/ppspeed.html

        I really appreciate it.

      • After the test, you’ll need to go to Advance tab and click on “view text” to be able to copy and paste the result.

        Thank you!

  88. New Capitol Estates 1.. ok Bayantel DSL.. sucks for gaming though. sablay yung ping nila which is important for gaming but dl is good. 1.5kbps yung dl speed on speed test sites. .. 200 kbps when downloading torrents.

  89. worst internet service in teh world, worst customer service, worst support worst connection speed worst reliablility I think you get the idea do not subscribe to smart bro !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  90. pldt,smartbro and globeline broadband…
here’s my ranking… globelines here in our location always have network restoration because of low internet connection… what a
    LAME SERVICE!!

  91. Hello Guys, I have a testimony. i have internet installed by PLDT here in makati area in Guadalupe area. PLDT mydsl. I have waited 1 month for the installation and it is installed in april 26, 2009. so far mydsl has been great i have subscribed 384 kbps + landline for only 999 and i have downloading speeds ave. is 50 kb/s. so far i have no problem. no maintenance, no downtime. Furthermore when i surfed the net i have fast internet browsing due to the fact i have firefox, i have opendns.com as my DNS provider for free kaya guys switch na kayo over your default isp which is congested, i have tweak my internet settings. by the way i ran windows vista, i have lots of ram, so it really helps, i have disable the quality of bandwith (windows reserved 20% of bandwith for emergency purposes, so it really helps if you disable it, you get max speeds when downloading, buy the way i download while playing games, i have downloaded 20 gigs of stuff already. email me for your concerns. king_2305@yahoo.com. by the way i am a computer expert.

    • Bro! i just want to ask something..

how did you disable the quality of bandwidth??
      my os is also vista..
      tnx dude..

  92. Hi! Im planning to transfer to Manila. What is the best ISP you can recommend in Rizal, Makati area? Thanks in advance…

    • I think Smart Bro in Makati is just fine. Or try Sky Broadband, because they promised lightning speed of broadband internet connection, based on their Ads. Hehe

  93. guys the worsiest ISP here and all over the world is GLOBE BROADBAND. try to log at http://www.speedtest.net and see your connection.. this is the poorest download and NO UPLOAD ISP IN THE WORLD. i have tested a lot of ISP but the SUCKING GLOBE BROADBAND (wireless and dsl) is the poorest of all time.. and it is a lot of complaints than the other leading ISPs..i have read a lot of blogs and i prove that the GLOBE is the poorest.
GLOBE IS GOOD ONLY FOR CALL AND TEXT but not on BROADBAND INTERNET.
“SA GLOBE, DISCONNECTED KA SA MUNDO”

    • agree…. as i view the ISP ranking based on connection speed.

They belong to the lower ranks…

      GLOBE IS SUCH A LAME…

      • It is because the total bandwidth shared by the users of globe in any data only services they offer is not enough to the number of coustomers they have.

Meaning, “Globe broadband services” total bandwidth is poor compared to most ISP in the world.

  94. I have tried smart bro (antenae type) and it could be good if your area is near a cellsite but it could be bad were there are taller building or trees surrounding your area. Go for the cable type it will be more reliable. The USB stick model which they advertize claiming for 2 to 3 mbps is over claim. They work like a dial up speed of 56k ( both globe and smart) and worst they would not admit and they just keep selling it. It almost a scam.

Spread the word so they will improve their service

  95. Hey I’ve been to our AlmaMater (^_^)
I was recognize right away by Institute of Computing dean kasi nakita daw niya ako sa isang blogging event dito sa Davao and he ask me about you Jehz and Smart geeesh! what is with your relationship with Smart … eh Bro-…ken talaga? (^_^)

Geeesh! I told him yeah! you’re one of my close friends and we are batch schoolmates etc… bahala siya basta kampi ako sa iyo, kaya ayon parang hindi na tuloy nagsalita ng masama si Sir Val (IC dean) sa akin about you.

  96. Well in my globe broadband(wireless+data only@512kbps) I can experience a 2 to 3 mbps (in non-peak time) and 600 to 700kbps (in peak time) if I get my favorite IP of globe w/ an openDNS  . Yet it still need the patience of resetting the connection w/c takes half an hour or never.

Using these connection in a globe DNS w/ stupid globe IP, well you can get a hell speed of 10kbps(a 70% overall downside of globe broadband)

  97. Leaving smart bro-ken and globe broadband from the picture, which ISP do you recommend?
I heard of pldt mydsl, bayandsl, and sky broadband. Which of these is the best overall based on speed, affordability and reliability of service?

  98. smart bro-ken user ako, and i am planning to switch on a new ISP, probably PLDT, laki na kc ng prob ko sa smart, almost 2 months ako wala connction, 5 times na nag pnta technicians nila yet wala cla magawa, cool db? latest solution nila, lipat daw ako base station nila, akalain mo, my connction nga, but every 5 mins my down time ka na 2 mins, very cool! cant enjoy their services na!

  99. been with smart bro for 3 years now. i get up to 512kbps max speed but sometimes it’s kinda slow din though it’s a relatively stable connection. but i’ve been thinking of getting a cable internet coz i know they’re much faster (i was a destiny cable subscriber before) and i would like to install a wireless router which might affect the internet speed. any suggestions please? thanks

  100. Routers are good for cable internet. It does not affect speed no matter how many computers are connected, wired or wireless. If your subscription is of the antenae type (wireless like smart bro) it is basically for a single computer and if you intend to use a router you will encounter conection problem and you will keep resetting your connection. More likely service personnel of smart will ask you to stop using the router

  101. If u have the finances ok lang skybroadband, 6k mabigat sa bulsa and do you need all that speed. Maybe planning to have internet connection and high definition internet TV if you can afford why not. Not if you are planning to open an internet cafe which is good for gaming and make your customer happy and interconnect your residential or business computer may be a good decision to go sky broadband……magiging sikat ka sa buong neighborhood…heheheh

  102. prehas lang naman lahat eh.all of them have flaws and all of them do their services accordingly. for me, depende na lang sa pc specs with regards to its maintenance, connection if wired and of course, location ng place mo kung sakaling malayo sa base station ang antenna mo. yun lang po.

  103. I’ve been using smartbro for a year and I’m still good with it! I live in cavite, I’ve checked with the TS and my area is 3g/hsdpa OK. I’ve also configured my laptop specs as to improve my overall speed connection. Amybe you should try this too. Get as much info you need from their TS instead of moving to other ISP’s so randomly. If it still doesn’t work, then maybe its the time to check your other options. :)

  104. I suggest smart bro (usb) for net on the go. muuuuuuuch better than globe tattoo. I’ve used both so I can compare.

  105. First of all, I am a hater of SMART services though GLOBE isn’t too far away. They both suck. I just have to let this out.

And now here’s my unbiased experience.

The ISP’s here in PH depends greatly in your area to function properly. You need to do your homework if you are to subscribe to any of them.

i.e. PLDT myDSL has excellent speed, stability and customer support in the “heart” of Baguio City, elsewhere, just plain sucks. In QC and Paranaque very unstable. So if i am in Baguio i’d definitely go for PLDT hands down. Too bad i think they cannot afford any more slots.

BayanDSL is pretty impressive in NCR better than PLDT i would strongly imply.

SmartBro unlimited = Great in areas where there is minimal connection, less clutter. As they send the signal through towers very low tech if you ask me. But you could get away with it if you’re not sharing your bandwidth. In Baguio where there is plenty of connection already, forget it and you’ll be happy just the same.

Prepaid SmartBro, Globe = The only good thing i can say here is that they’re the cheapest HSDPA gadget around. And since it’s made for surfing and for people on the go, i will give it a 4/10. Under a tower however i’ll give it 9/10. I reached 1.5mbps there max with stable connection. But of course, kinda defeats its purpose.

Globe wireless = SmartBro is better.
Globe landline + DSL = Same as PLDT only cheaper and slightly lagging behind in speed. This is my current connection as PLDT DSL isn’t available here in my current location. I don’t know in other areas though.

    Final words.
Survey your location, gather as much information you can. More connection means more clutter but not necessarily. As long as they have available slot for you(outside NCR), go for PLDT. Within NCR go Bayantel. Else go GlobeDSL(landline).

  106. Hello, I had PLDT before, I had Globe broadband before and I also had Digitelone. all of them have gud and bad sides. but the worst is Digitelone and PLDT. Imagine nyo ultimo field technician nila di alam ginagawa. The reason I was able to say this is I use to be a tech support for a router before so my idea ako sa mga pinag gagawa nila. . and FYI kung 1MB ang internet connection ang binabayaran mo every month, dapat atleast 70% – 80% ang speed na makukuha mo out of 1MB. yan dapat ang average speed mo araw araw. now this company thinks that all end user does not know this. kapag bumaba ka sa 70% ng 1MB it means they are not giving what they promise and what we are paying. request ka na dapat nun ng rebate. the problem with end user is haggat may connection gamit lang ng gamit. so di mo ma notice na mabagal na pala connection mo unless abutin ka ng mahigit sa 1min para sa isang website. tapos dun ka palang mag rereklamo. pero kung agresibo ka na i check lagi ang speed mo di sila makaka takas sayo at di ka nila ma loloko. I would also advise is use speedtest.net and 2wire.com to compare the speed na nakukuha mo para sure ka kung ano talaga average speed. Lets face it all ISP nag kaka problema tama but go to ISP na madaling kausap sa rebate and mabilis umaksyon sa problema. kasi kung di nila kayang ayusin sigurado ako na mag rebate yan sayo kaya di ka lugi. And ma advise ko lang sa lahat na wifi is still wifi. di parin mananalo ang wifi compared sa wired connection, mapa cable pa yan or phone line. ang problema kasi babagal talaga internet connection mo haggat dumadami ang gumagamit at nag share ng isang connection. so I would like to correct one post here na kung gagamit ka ng router eh di babagal internet connection mo. that is not true.
same with internet connection. Sana nabigyan ko kayo ng mahalagang ways to find the best ISP.

  107. Well for my experience 3 ISP n natry ko 1st is the Broadband ng bayan Smart bro F*** tlga.

  108. i’ve been good with smart bro kc my area has good signal. maybe its a case of how well the signal reaches your area. btw, i found this on you tube, hope it can help those asking w/c is better (bro or tattoo.)

  109. all these videos coming out comparing the different wireless internet providers and i think a lot were actually preferring smartbro (for wireless). I hope more vids cumout so we can actually compare.

    globe and smart

check and post your comments. i still dunno wats best.

  110. You might as well try Skycable’s Zpdee or Skybroadband. Based on my experience, I could say that its a lot better than most ISPs in the visayas where I’m located.

  111. i think its always different per area since i believe most wireless net users are in Luzon. There will always be competition for signal, right? still based on experience, i think smart bro is affordable and worth it.

  113. hi everyone, i recommended least line internet connection kng may mga business kau,im sure hndi kau lugi sa binabayaran nyo sa isp company sobrang bilis,kc dedicated tlaga ung connection nyo 1 is to 1 ip address ,at makkuha nyo tlaga ung (CIR) Committed Information Rate.for more info.just email me jhonny.avenido@yahoo.com tnx…for dsl type i recommend pldt mydsl biz..

  114. i suggest pldt mydsl. get the one that is 1k on top of your pldt bill. had it for 2 years! never experience any inconvenience. only once when they have to replace my modem coz i don’t turn it off. whenever i check my speed, it’s always between 1.2 – 1.4 mbps. i connected a wifi router and my cousin, sister and i are sharing. no problem still stable connection.

  115. Patulong naman po.. subscriber po ako ng smart bro .. mabagal talaga.. plano kong magswitch sa tattoo .. ung post paid pero di ko sure kung ok ung signal dito samin.. baka magka level lg sila ng smartbro .. taga Bago City Neg Occ po ako..any reply will be greatly appreciated..

  116. pldt mydsl also just a shit too.I’m playing for 1999 and just got 500kbps only, call them ask why is like this, they told becasue of the old platform, need to wait for the upgrade!but guess what,I been wait for 4 years til now….still waiting……
maybe you ask why i dont change to other, the big big problem is no other service provider around me…..shit talaga….

  117. mad: I won’t even recomend pldt my dsl. Plainly a misrepresentation regarding about there services. Exsample the speed average is 3.5mb and that not an average speed that is the top maybe might happened average of two hours in a year spand.. I own a internet cafe I monitored everyday the speed and most the test result is 1.5mb or 1.9mb. My lucky day I got 2.6mb and that last for 20 minutes, and after the 0.19 and 0.12mb which dial up speed is a lot more faster this kind of speed that to ashamed it call dsl. for two year my experiend with service is just like I am in hell. I experience for all most three four weeks with no internet connection and after that experience the speed is too slow. I feel so bad I got the premium commercial account that the service should be far better instead far worse and suck. Every time I called for service I am sorry the problem will forwarded to our technical team. Supervisor/ manager I spoke with the problem and made a promised the technician will be at my business site to service before the end of the day and that did not happen and they give a big lies… PLDT in whole they need to repair there total structures so they can give a good service to there customer.

  118. yah i sopport that… thing smartbrodband internet sucks it weak…. pak you smartbro… i am a smartbro user ang it take a year to comment here… shit…. they say that smartbro is upgrading but then…. theres nothing happend… smartbro.. sucks smartbro kiss my ass hole

Try it.

        wlang KWENTA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

for about 5months laging down hehe take note business kmi ha.. pano pa pag residential..

naging mgnda lang ung globe ung first 2 weeks nmin and then after that katulad ng sinasabi ng lahat. . . NAPAKALALA!!

mgbrowse ka ng google!! ndi mo mtatapos haha dahil sa intermitted nilang connection kumbaga for life nagloload ung page para sa GOOOOOGLE plang :)

hehe so syempre nranasan namin 1Month wlang connection hehe sarap diba..

mura nga ang globe 3Mbps for i think 2K? with landline

so now nand2 ako sa office nkikisagap ng wifi sa mga katabing company hehe ;)

        GLOBE BROADBAND SUCKS!

      • I agree GLOBE BROADBAND REALLY SUCKS! We are from Laguna area… We switched from SMART to GLOBE since at that time SMART didnt offer competively 1Mbs. So it was just speed ang problem namin sa SMART. If there was a disconnection.. they can immediately fixed it..5-10min. matagal na ung 1hr. BUT WITH GLOBE, whew! 5-12 hrs no connection. Then calling their support hotline is just one HELL of a sacrifice. It will take several attempts before they answer! Now for the main issue, we only get answers of uncertain cause of the disconnection problems and all PROMISES of reconnection with no INTERIM solution and estimated connection restoration time! They even get your contact numbers such that a support will call us to monitor/check the connection restoration – - these are all HELL of lies, they did not call us not even once.

  120. we got Destiny Cable internet for 4months already (3mbps static).
    Location: Vito Cruz, Manila

First and second month ok ang bilis nya.
Third month until now, worst nightmare ever. ang bagal nya, up to 100kbps lang ang speed. My jaw dropped when they said that to me.
and trust me i really wanted to change ISP, the things is i can’t decide what to get. Pls help me.

    if you have any suggestions
    please email me at roan290@hotmail.com

Pero pag hindi 12MBPS, may money back guarantee naman, pwede mo din e try for free for 12 days, i think.

So please wag kau bibili ng globe GLOBE 3G-Huawei.

  126. ah….sa zambales at baguio wala pa atang good internet provider dyan na provider….puros pang maynila pa lng….so talagang babalik pa rin kayo sa with landline…..sad pero sabi ng sun nageexpand na raw sila….kasi dito sa manila mabilis ang sun.

  127. hahahaha….korekek ka dyan madsphinx….parehas sila ng pldt…big “NO” “NO” when comes to internet services….smart bro nung una mabilis siya talaga pero makalipas ng ilang buwan bumagal na siya….kaya napilitan ako mag switch sa sun broadband…so far ok nman ung signal….so enjoy!

  128. Hi I just used the usb type sun cellular mobile thing, mine is postpaid though I paid almost 2,500.00 pesos for 1 month advance and the modem for this one. Actually the Sun mobile connection here in Malabon is good as per web page browsing although I tried downloading a torrent movie file and it took me several days just to finish one. ( I just did the speedtest and I got this for the result, 0.15mb DL 0.03upload please take note it is raining cats and dogs outside )

Actually I am a hardcore gamer before I got my job right now so Internet is really a big thing for me.

I worked as an English tutor before in the Don Antonio area and my Korean student chose destiny for their ISP, at first I thought it would be good because it is not broadband. There should be no downtimes because the data is travels through a wire right? Well I guess I’m wrong because it takes a millenia before they could even load a web page. They were so frustrated.

On the other hand, I have experienced Globe Broadband for personal use when I was crazy over RAN online ( I think that was a year and a half ago. ) The internet was good though there are times when it is intermittent. It was actually a good offer for 1,299.00 for both the phone and the net.

My boyfriend works in a computer shop and their ISP provider is PLDT biz. I think that is the best connection that i have experienced in my entire life. I am fond of watching movies downloaded via torrents and a 700mb file with good seeds will only take a maximum of 1 hour compared to my SUN mobile net, 3 days.

To sum it all, I think broadband companies will work depend on the particular location where you are in. If you are in the Pangarap-Tala area, Globe is the best and here in Malabon, I would recommend PLDT and Sun Mobile Net.

  130. To all those who want to have a good internet broadband, I will never recommend, Smartbro (Two weeks na akong tumatawag sa kanila para man lang maayos, lagi sabi nila ang “base” daw ang me problema at inaayos na ito ng mga engineers nila… take note, two weeks inaayos di magawa-gawa?! Second, I will not recommend, Globe broadband (Tattoo), sasakit lang ulo nyo…..

    • 4 ur info globe boradband 100mbps is the fastest here in the philippines and in the southeast asia,,(one of the fastest in the world),,too bad its only available in some rich areas here in the phil,,and it cost 15k a month,,but its worth it,,check their website..

  131. i’m doing an online business and I had tried all the ISPs in the Philippines. I don’t have any positive thing to say about philippine ISPs. they all sucks! I first tried smart bro. they just kept on changing my antenna every month. they also asked me to buy an additional tube to increase the height of my antenna but it’s also very slow. I terminated my smartbro and tranferred to PLDT but PLDT is worst. They never got my bills right. They always had a problem with their main server. I had to stay on the phone from the opening to the closing of the queue to reques for an onsite technician… I give up

  132. One thing positive with my experience so far with Smart Bro (antenae type) and Smart Bro USB Stick and Globe Broadband they work well and depend upon your location. Even PLDT for that matter. SUn DSL is the worst offender.

Unfortunately, they have a lot of improving their infrastructure from their claims of reaching 1, 2, 3 mbps which is utterly ridiculous advertising claims. They make the consuming public suckers. We should one day unite and file a class suit for robbing the public

  133. what a clusterf*%k! I just moved to Cebu from USA only to discover ISP same all over world: empty promises, outright lies, and lagging performance vs marketing claims…I will appreciate suggestions for my situation tho you must know I am leaning to smartBro for wireless connection and will make the plunge NLT 5 Nov 2009…my 2nd choice is hardwired DSL but I prefer wireless
    thanks for your help: countspacey@gmail.com

  134. Here in Butuan City, the WORST ISP is GLOBE WIRELESS BROADBAND. Very slow and couldnt even connect to webcam. So I had it disconnected even before I have completed my 1 year contract, and they tried to ask for pre termination fee from me, which is the remaining months of my 1yr subscription, been connected for 5 months., but they couldnt fool me I have been so stupid to being very quite with their FUCKING CONNECTION. So they agreed to just let me settle my last bill. Now, I have Bayan DSL, lil faster that GLOBE WIRELESS but atleast it has stable connection and i could use my webcam.

  135. IF YOU ARE FROM BUTUAN CITY, DONT EVER EVER GET GLOBE WIRELESS BROADBAND OR YOU’LL BE SORRY ALL YOUR LIFE. GLOBE WIRELESS BROADBAND FUCK YOU!!! FUCK FUCK FUCK!!!!

    • nice to hear from you guys,, i am from butuan city also pero im here in manila.. siguro mahina lang talaga signal ng globe jan kasi maganda naman ang globe dito.. hindi ko kinkampihan ang company na to i just want to share also na siguro dpende sa area.. hope to have a vacation soon to butuan.

  136. well ako naman sa digitel it took them 1 year para ma realize ng mga tech nila na di na nila kaya ayusin ang problema. take note tech nila nag sabi neto. “sir binatuhan ko na kayo ng 2mb connection na check ko na ung port assignment nyo pero mabagal parin advise ko kayo sir try nyo sa ibang internet service provider. sa totoo lang sir nag bawas na kami ng tao at wala ng technician ang naka assign sa area nyo”. wow after reporting to them for morethan oneyear of slow connection. eto ang na kuha kong sagot sa kanila. well good thing na sa kanila nang galing ung problema kasi ipapa putol ko ung connection at hindi ako mag babayad kahit isang singkong duling

  137. I am using Bayan Tel with Download speed of 784 kbps on daytime and 1.2 Mbps from 10pm til 10am, and Upload speed of 784 kbps. The only problem is the area they serve. c”,)

    • so are you saying that Bayan tel is a good choice provided that you are inside their area of service? pls reply. i really need a good ISP. Im an ex-Smart Bro user. I need a replacement..

  138. Can anyone please do an inquiry on Eastern Communication Prices?

Provided they allow 4mbps(Not as high as what sky advertises I expect them to be cheap)

Korean owned shops such as Station168 or Ihooked Uses THIS ISP And from my experience with this shop they don’t fail to deliver STABLE internet speeds

  140. wag kayong mag subscribe sa smart bro. currently a smart bro user. during peak hours around 10am-10pm my internet speed is usually 50-200kbps whilst their commercial is about 2mbps. kayo lng ang binobobo ng smart bro. to check how ur connection is unstable. go to command prompt and ping yahoo.com -t or any website. if you see request timed out alot means you got shitty connection. you can also try at 2wire.com or testmy.net for your speedtest. they are very accurate and most likely same result. guys dont be deceive with their commercial. ITS ALL LIES. i wanna sue them actually coz im an online gamer particularly wow( world of warcraft) and i cant even connect properly. so yeah its CRAPbro or FAILbro.

    • Agree. I had so much problems with smart bro and with sun broadband. Smart bro is very slow esp kapag may ulan. Tapos it takes forever for the bills to arrive and sometimes they double bill you. You really have to be keep track of the bills and make sure you pay smart at the smart stores kasi sometimes they don’t accredit your payments from the banks or SM for a month or two. Tapos it takes weeks for a repair crew to come and sometimes all they do is come and look for 5 minutes then leave.
With Sun broadband, the bills are on time pero its very slow. Minsan in Mandaluyong, its only 5kbps. I’m not kidding. The slowed I ever got was .11kbps. Yes. point 11. The fastest was 300kbps. And these are during non-peak hours in Mandaluyong. Tapos sira ang ZTE modem 3 times in 2 months because defective ang modem. China-made talaga. Mas tagal ang repairs lalo sa Smart!
Suggestion ko: don’t get smart bro or sun broadband if that would be your primary internet service provider.

      • hi.. no offense meant pero yes medyo may kabagalan nga ang sun.. im am currently on their SUN USB BROADBAND P799 per month.. not good for gaming dati ang sabi ko pero alam mo dito sa pasig ang bilis ng connection.. i have 5 online games installed in my pc.. everything is fast naman kahit USB Broadband.. cguro nga lang sa area nagkakaproblema kasi dito mejo mabagal lang siya pag gabi na..

  141. how about here in General Santos City, what will you guys recommend? i having problem with globe broadband.. the connection is too slow and sometimes it even stops..

    • can u read my post properly? it was the commercial of smart pro says that their latest plan is burst speed of 2mbps. are you even a smart bro subscriber or r u defending them in behalf? u r not experiencing what i encounter right now so wag mo ako pag sabihan ng tanga! do u even go to school? how dare u talk dirty to anyone without knowing the whole reason? seriously son “U READ UR COMMENT BEFORE YOU POST IT”.

i just called them recently and said that they upgraded my plan999 from 384kbps to 1mbps. the new subscribers will be having 2mbps and a contract of 2years.

yes i play wow(world of warcraft) and not knowing that ill be having this kind of unstable connection with smart bro. nag post ako para indi makipag away kundi mag express sa situation ko ok? so get lost.

  143. i was actually looking for an isp na mabailis UPLOAD speed. because i wanted to host a FREE online games. Bayantels 786kbps get 80kBps ul transfer rate. i just don’t know if increases with the plan of 2mbps kung magiging 200kBps ang ul. but i doubt it kasi adsl ang actual connection type nila. yung naman skybroadband `12/1 ang pinakamataas na plan for P6000 a month. that would mean na 100kBps lang ul speed. yung pldt may inoffer sa parang server services but P18000 a month at i need a business license to get it.

in short i just want a connection type (residential) which can gice me the highest upload speed possible.

  144. I just think that the Philippines is so under developed that our internet sucks. Also, i also think that the skycable people are losers because they say it give 12 mbps but it only give like 10 kbps this really pisses me off

    im from davao city…

Bullshit talaga!!

  147. I already tried many ISP’s here in the Philippines. Let me share some knowledge for you people what ISP to choose.

Smart Bro – Pinaka worst na ISP umulan man o umaraw walang improvements!! ANTHENA kc!! PINAKA BULOK SA MGA BULOK to promise

Sky Broadband (Zpdee) & Destiny- Kakapakabit ko lng last month ng SKY and ngayon nagsisi nq. mabilis cya pag offpeak meaning 1am – 8am… Pang adik tong sky broadband.. Sira ulo gumawa nito LOPEZ ikaw un.. ayusin mo yang ISP nyo.. masyadong bulok.. Gaming, downloding, p2p pinaka worst!! Customer Service PINKA BAD AT BULOK!! Ayusin mu sKY mo lopez SAYO pa nman ang MERALCO!!

Globe broadband wired – Good in downloading, gaming, p2p, surfing & video streaming. Forever nba yan? Customer service.. VER BAD!!

PLDT my DSL – The best ISP. very stable cya.. walang peak/offpeak hours.. kung ano ang speed mo consistent cya d cya nag babago.. best for GAMING.. and Good sa surfing downloading lahat lahat na!! d cya ganun ka bilis pero consistency ng connection ang pinag uusapan nten d2.. kaya PLDT na lng kau 1mbps and above.. ung below 1mbps wag na yun may nadidinig aq mabagal 300+kbps and 512kbps… Kung kaya nyo mag 1mbps UN NA LNG. LESS HEADACHE..

    peace

    • nga pla im applying for reconection sa PLDT my DSL ko.. nkakabulag kc ung 12mbps ng Sky… kahit 12mbps pa KAYO SKY katapat nyo is 1mbps lng ng PLDT. magsara na kau.. willing aq mag bayad ng 1 year lockin period ko sainyo.. pero d ko na gagamitin tong SKY ISP ko.. actually itatapon ko na MODEM NYO!!! balik pldt nq!!

      • Nice post Pol. I agree.

I’m located in QC and SmartBRO ang net namin.

Kaya I tried the 15-days trial period of Sky Broadband (1mbps plan) last August dahil nga inconsistent ang SmartBRO. Pag peak hours, para kang naka dial up.

    average DL speed 40 – 45 Kbps
    pros:
    wla
    cons:
low or no internet connection atleast 2 or 3 days in a week.
pag low internet connection di aabot ng 5 kbps ung Dl speed
mas mataas minsan ung Ul speed kesa Dl speed.

  150. I have girlfriend in the Philippines and she would like me to pay for her phone service that allows her to use her phone to connect with me on the internet on my computer, on Yahoo Messenger Site… I can pay for her fees here so she can go on the phone to talk to me on the internet ..how do I do this?? please contact me 925-766-8293 cell phone or emale is newworld95@yahoo.com

  151. It’s all got to to with the area you’re in man. Some ISP’s are really crappy in some areas, in some, they work like a charm. So, finding the ISP/s that performs the best in your area is what you should do.

  153. Actually my friend told me year ago now that myPLDT Company is the best compare than other ISP. But it depends on the location of your ISP hosting panel. If your location is near around 500meter-1mile you will get a fast connection whatever traffic it is… your speed connection will be good enough to satisfied your need.
However, it would be great if you can afford to pay the maximum speed available in the market.

  154. M using DSL at home for almost 2 years. So far i don’t see any problem. While mobile, i use smartbro dongle or plug it. So far i don’t see any problem why i should throw the product in the garbage. Before i’m using Tattoo, but the worst decision in my life. I just threw it in the trash can so sobrang inis ko. My brother uses Sun but you can’t bring it outside Metro Manila, what’s worse only selected areas sometimes quezon city lang masama pa signal. I’m happy with smartbro right now.

  156. hello there
i’m planning to apply for an internet connection…..taga La Trinidad po ako lapit Baguio…
can’t decide kung san ako mg-apply

please, i need help…alin po ang ms mganda?….thank you very much

    • first off… i want to say that this is the best topic ive seen so far regarding which is which…

      (i live in Pasig)

SmartBro – this was my first ISP. mabilis sila mag setup pag kakabitan ka nila. pag may sira naman, punta sila dito sa bahay after a day or 2. just like what a lot of you experienced, takot sa ulan ang SmartBro… takot din sa eroplano lol. i noticed na pag may dadaan na eroplano, kahit gano pa kataas ang lipad, na-dc ako then balik din agad pag wala na yung eroplano. i had plan 990 back then.

Globe Broadband – i had the 1300 internet+phone. i was really happy with my connection. meron sira pa minsan pero tolerable naman.

      • Try mo Bayan DSL, ok nman yung 899/month nila.. Stable yung connection, minsan lang may sira.. pero most of the time, im enjoyin their services..
Globe bro ako dati, yun 3G nila, (wireless) may maliit at walang kwentang antenna kinabit sa roof namin. After about 5months of hassle and sakit ulo, pinaputol ko na globe bro ko, at gusto pa nila ako pabayarin sa charges dahil di ko natapos yung contract. I said to them, bat ako magbayad eh pursue ko man sana connection ko yung ok lang services nyo. Ayun, diniskonek na nila. I’m now happy with Bayan DSL.

  158. We have 40 Computers sa Depatment namin, pero nasa 650kbps lang speed ng internet namin. Mas mabilis pa yong laptop ko.

Gusto sana namin magpalit ng service provider, yong mas mabilis at mas mura. Nasa Pacific Star Bldg, Makati office namin. Magkano kaya ang rates?

Anyone can help or suggest? thanks.

  159. just want to share my experience with smartbro..mejo mahaba lang, so please bear with me..

got it installed a few years ago in pampanga (2008 i think)..tolerable naman sya kahit madalas mawalan ng connection..since di naman kami madalas makapag-net because we’re not at home 24/7..a few months after, nasira ung pole na pinagkabitan dun sa antenna dahil sa bagyo dati (i forgot the name nung bagyo)..yung father ko ang nagreport sa smartbro about the problem since i’m working in manila..after a few days, nagpunta na yung technicians nila..di rin sya nagawa that day..so pinatawag na ko ng tatay ko sa smartbro since ang tagal na di pa din nagagawa yung antenna..the csr told me na magpapadala sila ng ibang technicians to look at the problem..same result, wala din nangyari..so i called them up again, this time, sinabi nung csr na may note na galing sa technician nila na di na kayang ayusin ung problem namin..i asked her kung pano yun, may mga bills pa din na nadating e hindi naman namin nagagamit yung service nila..she told me na i-wiwave nila yung bills namin (ilang months din yun)..and she asked me kung gusto ko pa daw ba ipareinstall yung antenna..i told her wag na lang..since puro sakit lang naman ng ulo inaabot namin dun..call ended, so i thought ok na..but then, may mga bills na naman na sinesend samin..di ko na lang pinansin since akala ko di pa lang naa-update yung system nila..anyway, after a few weeks, may dumating na demand letter from smartbro’s lawyer, telling me that if i do not pay or settle my bills with them, they’re going to file criminal case against me..wtf!!so i went to their main office in ayala and told them about my issue..the bi^&* na nakausap ko told me that i had to pay my unpaid bills pa din and because di na daw ako pumayag na maireconnect yung antenna nila, i had to pay pa yung termination fee (since wala pang 1yr yung connection ko)..i kept asking her na why should i pay their services that i’ve never used?!i even told her na wi-nave na nung csr nila yung ibang fees ko since di ko naman talaga nagamit and since sinabi na nung techinician nila na di na magawa..ang sabi nya sakin, kasi daw i refused na ipareconnect..i don’t know what i was thinking back then, but i gave in and paid them..7k all in all..shiyet!!stupid me.. i was so frustrated and irritated because ayaw akong pakinggan or intindihin nung girl na nakausap ko..mali din ako kasi i yielded sa mga mukhang pera na smartbro na yun.. well, lesson learned..kaya never, as in never na ako mag-i-smartbro (for the rest of my life)..i will not be an instrument para sa pagpapamayan pa nila..kung gaano sana sila kaaggressive sa paniningil sa mga customers nial ganun din sila kaaggressive sa pagbibigay ng good quality services e di walang problema..umayos naman sana kayo..

i’m planning to get a ISP at home and still researching on the better services..but come hell or hie water, HINDING-HINDI, DID I SAY HINDI?!?, AKO MAGPAPAKABIT NG SMARTBRO!!! kahit hindi na ko magka-net forever..the end…

  160. any thoughts on sky broadband 3mbps, bayan dsl 1mbps and globe broadband 2mbps? i really need a dependable internet connection with the best download speed..its hard to figure out really which one stands out because all sounds good on their website and sucks on the forums..

    i’m in dlsu taft area..

  162. Well me im a ex DigitelOne Subscriber sobrang kaasar tlga ang serbisyo nila daming problema bagal p ng action ng technical support nila laging call center angent lng ang makakausap mo. wag n wag kau magsusubscribe sa mga gagong toh. Well we switched to Globe Broadband plan 1mbps bundled with landline, Area San Pedro, Laguna. As of now ok n ok n ok sya. 4 months n kaming nakasubscribe sa kanila my konting problema minsan d nman mawawala un mabilis naman cla umaction, isang beses p lng nawalan ng connection 6 days major problem naman ang nanyari bumagsak ang kanilang equiptment.. then ngaun wala n problema….

  163. hi,

    sori mahaba…. :o

  164. :) Smile. That is the best approach to ALL CSR.

Initially, I had a NOT-SO-GOOD connection with smartbro. It was intermittent and slow. I called a couple of times and ended with somebody who would like me to do basic troubleshooting. Lucky for me I used to work as a TSR for a major US ISP. I always tell the rep not to bother as I have done it all. I would not call anyway if it is something local.

I told them that I need to be assigned to a different Access Point as my current is dropping me. The 1st CSR said it could not be done. I hanged up.

I called again and got a lady who is more than willing to create a ticket for me. The next day a tech came over to redirect my canopy modem to a different AP. They also tweaked the canopy to have a better download speed for me.

My choices here is limited since I am in Sorsogon City. In NCR, there should be about 8 – 14 AP to choose from. Just smile when you talk to the rep and if you think this rep is not so helpful, call again until you get somebody who is technical enough or conscientious enough to get you your request.

In toto, it still boils down to the agent that you get routed to. :p

  165. i agree with MadSphinx but for Globe broadband…i got those deal, i’ve without internet for 3 consecutive weekends which is very important to me because of work…now i’m torn between smartbro share-it and sky broadband…tomas morato, qc are by the way

  166. SKY BROADBAND gamit ko ngaun.. e2 lage DC almost 2 weeks na. tagal na technical nila to fix the problem.

SKY BROADBAND, GLOBE, not for online gaming, d ako mka online dahil sa unstable I.C. bilis DL kaso sa online wag na umasa.

BAYANTEL ok sana kaso nwawala net pag umuulan. pero mabilis technical support nila.

  167. Hi I’m new here in Manila and looking for a fast connection ISP with a budget plan.

In States the connection there is mostly thru ground wires so no antennas needed.
Here I see is different so I’m looking for fast connection that’s stable and is pretty cheap. 1MBPS is good enough for me.

Also I have heard about 4G providers, anyone can comment on that?

  169. Out of topic:

NEED HELP on setting up iPhone 3G Unlocked from AT&T.

Hi I sent my wife a AT&T unlocked (or openline you called it) iPhone 3G 8gb. she needs help how to set up the iphone to be able to access internet (using prepaid sim) and be able to send MMS. I already called and contacted globe quite few times (but everytime in the middle of conversation we kept on disconecting- maybe I need to go to Smart huh? lol) and in some other times I was able to talk to their customer support, and the Globe customer representative told me she couldn’t help me after I told her that the iPhone was not purchased at Globe and it was from AT&T. She also told me that my wife needs to take the iphone to one of their Globe Business Center (Davao) so they can set up the iPhone and tweak the settings. I was hesitant because the phone is currently running on 3.1.2 firmware which is unlockable, and if they ever update the iphone to 3.1.3 (here in U.S) the unlocked for that firmware isn’t available not yet, although I don’t know what or how are you guys do it there in Philippines to open a line (unlock) an iphone. Anybody could help her get the phone set up or if you know anybody that works at globe that knows how to do it.Once the problem is solved, I will send you a PHP 500 or More (Depending on the complexity of the set-up) worth of load via Chikka iSend (your choice to Globe and Smart) You can text me on my Roaming (globe) 0916-317-8023 I can also call you around 10am Phil time, or you can email me just contact the blog admin,Salamat po Bossing, I do check my email most of the time(except when I am at work or sleeping) philippine time is 13 hours ahead of us. so if you are texting / email me at 12 noon there its 11Pm here. Thanks

  170. Smart Bro is fine over here in Baguio, although i’ve never tried other ISPs before so take my opinion with a grain of salt.

I haven’t experienced any problems until recently, probably because of that underwater cable problem or my new comp (sure, lots of storage. But not exactly befitting for me. Our old comp was better). Everyone in the house uses lap tops, so we use wi-fi. It was fine when we were newly introduced to the concept but later on it started getting crappier. Well, the brand of the router isn’t really all that nice so I wouldn’t really directly blame it all on smart.

When i stayed at the U.S. for awhile, internet wasn’t all that different. Only the download speed but i don’t really mind as all i ever download are small stuff. Accelerators can take care of it.

Personally i can blame a lot of people for the crappy internet here but i’d rather deal with it. It’s not like I’d die from having slow internet.

    • Dude! I would die with slow internet! Back in my country in China the download speed is 1GBPS per second. That’s like a million times faster than the internet here in the Philippines. From my experience, ALL the internet providers in the Philippines diconnect from time to time and I can’t take it anymore!! The service here is very poor.

  171. While Apple’s 3.1.3 firmware was minor in terms of new features, it’s had the side effect of opening up a huge market for scam sites. These sites will promise you a 3.1.3 jailbreak for newer devices like the iPod touch 3G, or a baseband 05.12 software unlock. Those desperate enough to “just give it a shot” will find, 100% of the time, that they were misled. After money has changed hands they’ll be told “well the 05.12 unlock is coming, in the meantime here’s the 05.11 unlock” (of course the 05.11 unlock was intended to be free, as you all know). They’ll hold your money until one day the 05.12 unlock does come out, even if that’s months later (and of course it’ll be relehxxp www(dot)unlock-iphone-313(dot)com ased for free on ). In the meantime they’ll be able to claim they gave you part of what they advertised, and keep at least part of your money (in actuality they’ll usually keep all of it).

  172. nakoh ung SMART BRO … ok sa umga … khit 2pc ung open ok pdn kht paano mga tanghale na .. hnde mu pede isaby ung pgsusurf at net gaming … mglalag lng game mo … sana nmn aucn nla ung servicio nila … pingiispn q nga lumipt sa wi-tribe kaso hnde p gnu kilala … peu sav nila mgnda dn daw sa sky broadband …

hay wala n bng mgndang ISP d2 sa pinas …

    nakakasorah …

  173. well , i just search in speedtest.net , the top 10 ISPs in the philippines and the top 1 is the Globe Telecoms … and has 34.95 mbps well i havent tried it yet cuz i got cheap ass parents i only got smart bro … very sucky internet connection -> not suitable 4 online gaming it really sucks at onine gaming … and also the technical support ay sobrang mabagal …

  174. people who operate those ISPs are just a bunch of a**holes they only care in generating profit and income for their company, and at the same time lessening their operating costs by intentionally cutting down internet connection

    what a loser

    • oo nga . previous PLDT My DSL user din ako. at the first 3 months, ays nmn ung connection . ang bilis nga eh . plan 1299 un. 1Mbps

      3 months after:
BOOOM!!

      1 month later:
tired of waiting pero nagkaron dn. after 1 week ulet ; BOOM!! . haha . wla nnmn ung connection. BADTRIP!!

i called and called and called them. the same things kept on repeating lang. pagkatapos nung contract ko , tinigil ko na. kalokohan lang ung DSL . PLDT SUCKS!!

      – just dont try DSL . sobrang tae nung service nila

      • MJ.. anong area kayo?

    • Hi! Wi-tribe user ako. At first sobrang bilis pero after a few days palaging nagdidisconnect. Nakakainis talaga.

philippines ISP companies only gains and the customers always suffer hayz!

  179. ( I just hope mabasa nyo ng buo ang letter ko kse sobra po talagang haba…sorry po mga sir and maam, give me some advice and feedbacks )

I want to thank you Sir Jehzeel for this blog, I can finally share my experience and angst about my ISP. @#*% Grrr!

I will share my experience with PLDT MyDSL first. When I applied for their bundle 888 ( 3 years ago ), okay naman connection nila. ( we’re living here in Pandacan, Manila by the way ). There was 1 time na-cut ang line ko na wala pa namang due date and when I asked the CS they told me, “System Error lang sir.” I don’t have internet connection for the next 30 days and when the next billing came, may additional charge na for change-of-line daw. I told the CS, how can that be same pa rin tel number at IP address ko. Same answer, system error lang daw. Ng di nila maalis alis sa billing ko yun for several months, I decided na end ko na ties ko with them. Then a demand letter from their lawyer came, sagutin ko nga, di napahiya ang firm at ibabalik na lang daw nya account ko sa PLDT.

Then I transfered to SUN Broadband, hoping I can get a better connection. Bakit ba hindi, e pinagmamalaki nila that every user has an allocation of NOT LOWER THAN 300 KBPS (capslock ko na talaga) burstable of UP TO 2MBPS. Wowwww naman. Sarap pakinggan (postpaid po ako).

Nung first few months, ayos naman. I was impressed when I saw that my torrent download speed goes up to 200+ kbps.

I upgraded it to CoreDuo, with 2gb RAM. Nung

I installed Win7 kse kaya naman, but I dont have my usual speed. I called Sun CS and told me to change it to XP, so reformat ulit ako. Sadly, same pa rin.

Its almost a month now, and I only got 4 – 6 kbps out of 300 kbps they promise. Haay!!

Yahoo, Google at FB nga 2 mins bago bumukas.

I will try Globe Tatto and Smart Bro dito sa lugar namin to see the difference. Nakahiram na ako ng mga modem eh.

    Help naman……

  180. wala sa klase ng os ang speed ng internet mapa XP ka man o Windows 7 same. sinong nagsabi na pag binalik mo sa xp bibilis ang speed? sakalin mo yung nagsabi na cs. ke bago o luma ang pc pag mabagal speed mabagal. end of story. DI OS DEPENDENT AND SPEED NG INTERNET. kahit palitan mo pa ng quadcore i7 pc mo kung simbilis lang ng lakad and speed ng kaya ibigay ng isp mo forget it.

    • Depende rin sa Os ang bilis dahil ang XP kaunti lang ports na open, 10 lang ata., so if you know how to open a lot of ports it will speed up your internet. the reason why XP’s open ports are at default to 10 is because of viruses. mahina ang defense and windows know it.
So technically XP’s internet speed is inferior to later OSs…

You can search some website on how to open the XP ports up to 1000++ using DOS. But it will put your pc at risk. But will speed up your internet connection.

  182. Dito kami sa Loyola Hts QC. Sky Zpdee user kami since 2007 (3 yrs). Okay ang connection. There were glitches din pero parang minor lang compared sa iba.

Ang problem, tuwing nag-a-upgrade (“daw”) sila, nasisira router namin. Last time, yung support nila may binigay na setting (sa IP yata, not sure) tapos pag-reset, ok na uli. Anybody who’s experiencing the same or baka who knows what’s happening? Thanks!

  183.
same same lang po tayo ng na-eexperice mga dude…I’am using PLDTmyDSL for a year na. But now (as of June 5, 2010) parang bumagal bigla. Kasi ung plan po namin is Plan 990. And now I’m planning to change my ISP Globe Broadband dahil nakita yung basic internet plan nila na P995/month with a speed of 1Mbps.

    • I have Globe Broadband for 6mos. now, 1Mbps for P995/mos. It was good, i dont know if it is true but when i test the speed, it was what im paying for.
Download is 100-120Kbps, little slow but fine with me.
      Streaming is also good.

The only prob. is, sometimes i cant connect to any site, looks like i lost a connection and needs a couple of restarts and for streaming and downloading they get affected if a lot is using the same ISP. But i think it really happened in all ISPs.

Overall, for me Globe Broadband is good.

    • lahat ng ISP provider scammers, 1st, 2nd or 3rd week ng service nila di nyo mapapansin yung mga probs at negative side pero after 3rd week lalabas na yan. babagal, papangit ang services.. wla ka rin magagawa dahil may sumagot man na customer rep nila wla din maitutulong kundi paasahin kalang at sasabihin within 24hours po… kahit araw araw ka tumawag kahit maka 168hours kapa wala parin.

      i tried Blobe (globe), bayadDSL(bayandsl) and SmartBroken…

sigh walang matinong ISP puro mukhang pera..

  184. My ISP is Colorview CATV (Cable Internet).
They said they have Fiber Optic Cables.
It was great for the first few days, then it got from bad to worse…
    From 80kbps.
    To 10-15kpbs.
    I felt scammed.
    F*cking greedy bastards.

  185. ang mahirap sa globe ay reliability. bago lang sila sa net business at ang kanliang infrastructure ay mahina pa. agree ako bumaba speed ng pldt from 2 weeks ago. but as of now ito ang best choice. not unless you want to try bayantel na lagi dc pag download.

  186. Need a reliable & affordable internet connection here in pasay… near Macapagal blvd and Buendia… aside from MyDSL and SkyBroadband(our area isnt covered yet, as i was told).

I hope someone could help me out…

  187. Has anyone tried WI-TRIBE?
I use 1mb globe broadband wired no landline.
I’m thinking of switching to Tattoo since I’m not home all the time anyway and I don’t think i’m using up 995 a month of their service. I might as well make the switch.
Or maybe Wimax is better than Tattoo.

Globe sucks as much as the rest. I know it but I chose globe since My Mobile is also subscribe with them. Free call customer service at least.

  188. just want to know kung ok ang connection ng bayantel dito sa talipapa nova??? pls send me some ideas kung ok ang bayandsl ty

  189. sa pilipinas wala talagang magandang internet connection provider dito kaya ang solution…mag migrate sa korea japan or europe dun naka FTTH connection..XoXo

  190. If you are a gamer, developer, IT ,or if your expecting a consistent connection, dont go the SKY BROADBAND way, mag sisisi lang kyo.service will be good for the first 15-30 days and the rest is hell.
Skybroadband PANG SURF LANG, in short, parang dial up lang din haha. (thats a bitter laughter, i was screwed, i subscribed to it)
heres the real deal, sabi nila kanila pinakamataas na download speed, yan primary marketing ploy nila, and yet bawal torrent sa skybroadband, pag nag torrent ka, the fastest bandwidth youl get is 56kbps, unlike pldt mydsl which could go as high as 1 mbps. with normal download, 1mbps subscription, sky at best ,offpeak, can provide you with 70-100 kbps..way far off from the advertised rate.BEWARE..CAVEAT EMPTOR.

    • I beg to disagree kay she, my Sky Broadband at 3mbps bursts download speed to maximum, off peak. 4gb download ko laging tapos. HTTP download ko consistent 200-300KB/sec pero everything is dependent to 1) torrent health, 2) server location and 3) competency ng gumagamit.

  191. mga engot globe pnk mblis s pinas 100 mbps max nla, followed by a 10 mbps plan..,globe nga gmit nmn s shop 4 almost 1 yr mnsan dc mnsan mbgl but so far better than pldt dsl in terms of download speed but if ur on gaming go for pldst dsl cuz its more reliable and has more subscribers,,…more subscribers = low ping…

  192. Fi-Ops for CATV Intnernet…?

    That’s BULL$#!+… hahahaha!

    They’re using Copper Coaxials!

Besides 80KBps? I’m getting (or was) getting 300+ for Globe WiMax via bittorent. Kung Fi-Ops nga yan it should go way beyond that… tsk! ISPs in the Philippines are really at it.

Sorry to say dude… YOU WERE SCAMMED…

  193. Whenever I type something on yahoo/google/bing search box.. I get this result “Error 101 (net::ERR_CONNECTION_RESET): Unknown error.” when obviously im connected to the internet. What could possibly went wrong?

  194. I am actually using plan 1998 (2mbps) with 12GB cap limit. As for me, I haven’t got any problems with the service. Their customer care are well trained. In fact, they have the most courteous and professional technical support I have encountered for an internet service provider. My problem is that there are times that the connection fluctuates and instead of getting the full speed that I should be getting, I am getting only 25% (700 Kbps). Also, we are 5 in the family that sometimes share the connection at one point. 12GB of capacity is so easy to consume most especially if you are a heavy downloader. In just 3 days I found out that I was already consuming 10 GB, None of us don’t even download movies nor watch streaming videos!!! So to all of you who are planning to acquire this product, then better step back and think twice if you don’t want to be lured to another provider that won’t return your money’s worth.

“sana” the first year was ok..ok din internet connection..nagkaprob kami simula nung ondoy…wala kami internet connection for 1 month..dahil binaha nga kami..at tinangay pati ung modem..tumawag kami sakanila mga 2 days after..dahil dun lng nagkasignal ung globe mobile phone ng biyenan ko..sabi nila irereport daw un pra wlang dumating na bill..pero may dumating na bill samin after one month..take note hanggang nung time na mga un..wla pa rin kming internet pero may bill kami..then tumawag ulit kami then sabi nman samin..irereport daw pra i-waive..then until now wla pa rin..tpos di na rin kmi mkapagdownload ngaun..super bgal na ng net..d pa mgamit ung phone..sira..at d nila mpalitan.

    • lagi namang ganyan sinasabi ng globe eh…pangako sila ng pangako pero ala namang resolution.ala silang maayos na system.papakabit na nga lng ng internet inabot ako ng 20 days…kinansel ko na lng nung pang 20th day na kasi feeling ko ala na talaga ma-iinstall.so hinihingi ko ngayun ang refund para sa installation fee, hindi naibay the same day na nagpunta ako sa office nila.sabi tatawagan daw ako pag andun na yung refund.ala naman akong nare-receive na tawag.laging yan ang sinasabi nila.TATAWAGAN.pag tinanung mo kelan ang tawag alang silang masabi anung date or any time window!

  196. if your from pampanga dont go for digitel. they suck ass. customer support is shit as well. The connection isn’t stable and most of the time i only get 100kbps-50kbps?? when im paying for 1mbps.

  197. Bayantel DSL pa rin the best may money back guaranty pa in plan P899.00 lang ako 4 kami na pc nag share wala pa din lag di bumababa sa 700kbps ang speed sa gabi double your speed pa.

  198. i’m been having intermittent connection with PLDT mydsl, problems getting worse, been calling 172 almost every hour of every day but to no effect. i’m gonna have t-shirts printed with “PLDT mydsl SUCKS” & wear them where ever i go. i’ll advertise what their mydsl is really like.

  199. im using my DIGITEL DSL for about 4 years. yes there are some negative things about the connection but they are more reliable, cheapest rate, fastest connection, its not under rated bandwith meaning to say pag 1MB ay 1MB talaga bandwith nya.nagkakatalo yan sa SPECS ng PC..
FYI causes that makes internet slow,
    1. SPECS
    2. VIRUS
    3. Numbers of PC use
    4. Bandwith share
    5. website congested

Service? matanong ko kayo..sinong Telecom ang Perfect sa service? it happends to all..walang perfect telecom…

    • pwedeng mgtanong kung anong plan mo s digitel? kasama n b s monthly yung bayad s landline? nginquire kc q s pldt dsl yung plan 999 nla, bukod s 999 n monthly mo s internet, may 700 k png monthly pr s landline. kkainis db? d nla ilagay n may separate k p palang bbyaran pr s landline. sn mbasa mo ito at masagot mo din. thanks.

  201. I think naka rely ang connection depende sa area, connection speed you subscribed on, sa ISP, at sa OS operation sytem at specs ng pc ng user…

Kung magsusubscribe ka pa lang, make some research about sa area mo, magtanung ka sa mga kapitbahay na naka subscribe na at hingiin mo yung opinion about them, second go to the main office about ISP at makipagusap ng maayos about ur concern, sana lang yung mga nasa CS ay mga IT tlga na madaming alam tungkol sa technical issue when it comes to this services, usally kasi dinadaan ka lang nila sa charm… For example your main concern is gaming, or just web browsing,dl..etc…

now i’m using smartbro, after 6 months of subscribing to them, ngayon lang ako nagkaron ng problema with their speed and connection. i’ve been calling their customer service for 3 weeks now, reporting about the frequent internet interruption at mas mabagal pa sa snail na may hika sa bagal ang internet speed.
ngayon: download speed: 133kbps upload speed: 33kbps (using speedtest.net) sa 2wire naman: 51kbps.

  203. i’m using sky broadband 3mbps their service is good.. but their technical staff when you have problems does a just little more than nothing

Cabled connection kasing mahal ng wireless connection(broadband)???? cabled connection can provide 10 times more faster than broadband in terms of their maximum capabilities.

To provide some chances sa iba, nagbigay sila ng memo.

Kaya research na lan, what is best in your location. (In my experience masmarami ang bad connection sa good   )

End of line, PEACE:

  205. globe subscriber ako.. 1st month ko ok na ok, download, surf and games sabay sabay pwede.. pero after a month.. nag start ng bumagal.. 70% slower ung connection ko.. picture nlang sa facebook ang tagal tagal bgo maview.. globe sa umpisa lang magaling.. 100% ung signal strength pero npakabagal pa din?. possible b un?. mga manloloko..

    • pareho tayo nagoyo ng globe dati torrent, FB, download, streaming… mblis lhat after 6 months…. mblis n lng xa twing 2-6 am tpos pag may araw na mbagal na naman…. and recently 24/7 na ang kabagalan nya….. mdalas pang nwawala…. could it get any worse??? akala ko mas mganda to sa smartbro pero shoot wlang wla to pre…. gusto ko mag PLDT kaso wlang linya ng pldt dito….mdame na ko nkita na forums and PLDT ang top 1 may bad reviews pero konti lang…. pero kung mlamig jan i would suggest sun…. mas mblis sa pldt kaso super bilis din mag overheat kaw n bhala magchoose…. PLDT or SUN… hope it helps

  206. please dont ever try goin with PLDT!!! they suck!!! In Bulacan, my parents use smart bro and the service is excellent, my bro naman globe, ok din daw..right now we are looking for a new provider bec PLDT IS DISCONNECTED FOR 4 DAYS ALREADY AND they can’t explain..prior to this, pag gabi nadi disconnect siya and hindi na bumabalik until mag 6am..

so guys sana matulungan niyo ako mag decide which is ok..

  208. im a 1g wimax subcriber sa globe…. but my speed cant ever reach the speed they promised…. i always call the hot line and complain….but all they said is that they are working on my problem….but last week when i call the hot line they said my account was put on “fair user policy” its means that they intentionally reduced my speed because i over used my internet…. i said its illigal coz they are selling ads that is unlimited use….its bull shit…

    • ganun talaga pag wimax… i am working on an international isp and pag sumobra ka na sa bandwith talagang imamanage nila speed mo.. :D

  209. Hi good guys,
I shall be going to Sorsogon City next week. As I dont have my own home use Internet Connection, I seek to know which is the best Internet Service Provider in that region.
    Kind regards,
    Sam

You are paying to them without giving back the best to their costumers. Say No to Digitel..shit

    • pre ganan n ganan den ngyare sken ko.. bwiset nga ung DIGITEL aa stop dance den gg ko e.. khit nga simpleng page lng ng google ubod ng tagal mgload e haiz..

  213. SMART BRO SUCKS…if you call them they will tell you to adjust your pc. Idiots….

    • tama ka pre.. sa call center nila un eh.. dapat nga palitan nila ung protocol nila kng pannu mag trouble shoot. or masmgnda n ung napagtanungan mo eh tangalin na sa trabaho. di nmn sila nakaaktulong..

      • Wag kayo ganyan?

  215. I’m a Skybroadband user. Share ko lang.

Nung pinakabit ko siya, September 18 2010, pinakita nung nagkabit yung speed niya through speedtest.net then lumabas 1.44mbps.

The fact is around 150 to 200 yung ping mo.

May sakit din to e, yung 2-5 times disconnect per day.

Hehe. Sige bye.

    • dude thanks for info, im planning on subscribing to skybroad, naka pldtmydsl ako ngayon sa 1mbps but on speedtest its 1.3mb to 1.5mbps, cool, but im planning to upgrade sana kaso mahal, thats why im thinking of shifting to skybroad.

    • I beg to disagree!!!! Grabe ang service ng globe!!! I was with PLDT before pero nung nagbusiness ako I switched to globe kasi cheaper sha… grabe kasumpa sumpa! Wala akong marecommend na magandang service provider dahil i’ve only tried PLDT at globe… it just means na wala ako pinopromote dito.. sobrang bwiset lng ako sa experience with globe kaya shineshare ko to.. sana wag maranasan nung mga nagbubusiness… thx…

  218. I am looking for a better ISP on our area (Zabarte, Novaliches) para mapalitan na itong Smart Broke connection ko. Ilang taon na akong nagtyatyaga kc plan 999 (mura eh) but I can’t take it anymore na lalo na’t sobrang laking perwisyo sa work ko (homebased kc ako).

Pls if you are from our area, suggest naman ng matinong ISP.

    Thanks

      • 3 of my friends already had Globe pero sabi nila mas grabe daw yan sa Smart Broke! Depende nga talaga sa area… I’ll probably try either PLDT or SkyBroadband, maybe they are okay here.

  219. I’ve tried all these three giant telcos, Smart, Globe, Digitel… I once worked for Digitel pa nga eh… At ang masasabi ko regarding their service.. ‘both their Internet and customer service SUCKS HARD’.

  220. Gud day sanyo!

    thanks!

  221. I’ve read so many forums but the last one I was in had a unanimous result among its commentators. When it comes to DSKL internet, the top favourites for consistency and reliability are Bayan DSL and Destiny broadband.

I just wish there was a clearer concensus regarding wireless ISP bec. that’s what I’d really like to use when I’ll be temporarily staying in the Philippines starting this June. But it seems that there is no clear frontrunner among them.

  222. Hoy!! mga wla alm sa networking.!! for your information…!!

    Alam Nyu Kung Bakit..?
Dahil sina subnet pa nila yung isang subnet ng isang network ID..
    Kaya Bumabagal..!!

    Business kasi yann

  224. I’ve been using sun broadband for 5 months…. ok nman siya when it comes to websites na pinupuntahan ko but pag youtube… nakakaloka laging buffering… tuwing madaling araw lang mabilis of course di un araw-araw… tapos sa pag-da-download, ang bagal 1-30 kbps ung regular… minsan lang talga bumilis… im thinking of changing my ISP… I’d like to have pldt dsl installed next week… plan 990 sana since pwedeng mag-wifi… sana maging okay sya…

  226. guys, have you heard? magkakaroon na ng cap ang globe broadband. its pretty shitty if you ask me since ive been with them for 3 years now. napagtitiisan ko naman yung 1mbps na speed nilang inu offer at plan 999 na may ka bundle na landline. pero lalagyan pa nila ng cap. meh.

so, any recommendations para sa bagong ISP? Im from Tandang Sora Area in Quezon City. gusto ko lang eh stable na 1mbps connection na walang cap. :)

  227. hindi naman po pangit ang service ng SMARTBRO there are times lang talaga na magkakaroon ng interruptions due to system maintenance or whatever… nakakakuha nga po ako ng 1.5mbps download speed eh…

      • sa cavite po.. try to do speedtest between 6am-9am, kasi yun yung times wherein i’m getting those speeds. pero may times din na i’m only getting 0.90-1mbps download speeds pag peak hours… :)

  228. Smart Best For me .. kasi nakaka 1.8mbps ako . sa gabi mabagal 1.3mbps talaga . depende din po sa location ang bilis ng isang isp . swertehan lang talaga .

  229. kaya po naglalagay ng speedcap andg mga ISP para po ma-maintain ang speeds ng users at bandwith. believe me mas worst pa yung sa US. i’m working for a US based ISP. so if mabagal po ang internet nyo maybe dahil may congestion sa network kasi may mga heavy users na sobra kung gumamit ng bandwith kaya bumabagal yung service ng ibang users…

  230. hello guys! i just want to make a query about the best broadband connection d2 sa bandang south… bf homes pque phase 3 in particular. i was with smartbro when i started pero sobrang bagal dami din down time. then i switched to destiny cable… at first mabilis then after a few months nagsimula na mag deteriorate. pero in-fairness maganda customer support team nila bilis ng response time pero yung quality na talaga ang pumangit. so if ever na may idea kayo pls give a shout… thanx! ^_^

  231. If you are like me using Smart Bro and only getting dial-up speeds, the first thing you should do do is complain directly to the NTC using their website, ntc.gov.ph. If you search ntc.gov.ph with google, may direct link papunta sa complaint form nila.

I also made a facebook page called ‘Smart Bro are Thieves’, because this is the most common remark I seem to find on the internet. If you are like me and feel that Smart is stealing your hard earned money, please visit and like my page at:
    http://www.facebook.com/pages/Smart-Bro-are-Thieves/186484471397266
Maybe with enough likes, we can get Smart to listen, or at least let the rest of the world know that SMART BRO ARE THIEVES! Ninanakaw nila ang pera ‘natin!

  232. net speed is dependent on your type of connection. di yan depende kung bago o luma ang pc. next is type of service. may mga area na mabagal ang bawat isp. kaya kung na taon ka sa area na yun malas mo.

  233. hi to all,
    question lang po ,
nid ko lan magpa’qoute for 512kbps and 1mpbs

    pls..read my msgs.

  237. AHHMMM GAMIT KO NGAUN DIGITEL >.> 2KB LANG ANG DOWNLOADING SPEED KAPAG UMAGA FROM 1 A.M. TO 7 A.M.

at d naman yata for commercial use yung 10Gb!

Leading telecommunication companies in Asia have signed an agreement to build a US$430-million next generation high bandwidth optical fiber underwater cable system that will link Japan, the Philippines, Hong Kong and Singapore.
The parties who signed the agreement last January 27 were Philippine Long Distance and Telephone Company (PLDT), NTT Communications of Japan, and StarHub of Singapore. Telekom Malaysia (TM) signed a separate agreement with NTT Communications in Kuala Lumpur.

  241. pinaka mabilis pldt my dsl for only 5k a month may 5mbps ka na speed super bilsi kahit nag lalalro ka ng hon tapos may nag youtube tapos may nag dadawonload pa super bilis parin try niyo na hindi aky mag sisisi!!!!!!!!!1111

  242. Hi im from Laguna Area (San Pedro to be exact) i just want to ask what is the best ISP provider at my location. i am currently leaning to PLDT but is still open for your suggestions.

Hope you can help me decide guys.

    Thanks,

  243. I won’t comment anymore with the speed of SmartBro (as it depends on the location…and unfortunately, all locations suck!) LOL. I try to be funny, but requesting for a service disconnection after everything else failed is never as funny as this http://smartbrosucks.blogspot.com/. 244. ang speed ng service kahit anong provider dependent sa 1.) plan na kinuha. 2.)area or location.

  247. I agree that it depends on the area, Keep in mind though that whichever ISP you get, there will always come a time that something will go wrong. That’s why my advice is to consider their customer support.

PLDT has, by far, the worst customer service, calling them involves a 15-30 minute hold time. After which, your call will get picked up by an agent, IT WILL GET DISCONNECTED immediately. No one will call you back so do not wait for that. It’s been years since I was last with them but I still come across people with similar experience.

Smart is not much better, they’ll give the run around whenever their services are down and you ask when they’ll have things running again. I know someone who didn’t get any service for 3 weeks but Smart still had the nerve to bill the entire month.

Globe has really shitty after sales service, customer service calls will often get disconnected as well. No call backs either. Shit service too.

Sun isn’t any better same as their other company digitel, not very customer friendly at all.

Of the many ISP’s that I have tried Bayantel had the most decent customer service, they aren’t perfect but at least they give most of what you’d expect from a company you pay to keep you online. The only problem is that they have severely limited presence outside of metro Manila.

My final advice is that if you have no other choice and you only have to choose from PLDT, Globe, Smart or some other ISP that you know has shitty customer Service, get fake documents when applying. This way, you do not have to keep getting ass raped by your ISP should your relationship turn sour before your lock in period runs out. Just pay what you’ve used and leave.

Thank you for the blog! So far sa mga nabasa kong reply nalaman kong di ako ang ng i-isang disappointed sa PLDT SERVICE SUCKS!!! customer care, customer service “daw” dapat palitan nila ang tawag sa kanila “CUSTOMER NO-SERVICE” OR “PISSED CUSTOMER CURSE ABSORBER”! Di ako makapaniwalang ma bubuwisit nila ako ng ganito….. di ako madaling maasar o mabwisit na tao pero dahil sa karimarimarim na service nila it squeeze the worst out of me.

this is what happen, my phone line was dead as well my dsl internet service tuesday… right then and then i reported it NICELY…

then Wednesday i updated my report NICELY, the line was under line testing outside (pldt box) —it took another 24 hrs!

Here comes thursday … they say it was not resolve thru line testing technician is already dispatch in the area, waiting the whole day no show of the technician.

Here comes friday…i update again.. no show of technician. This time im pissed because they already telling lies…

Finally, Saturday afternoon the technician is here!!!

i have connection from mid pm of saturday, sunday, monday, then tuesday here again…the service is DEAD ONCE AGAIN. the same senario happens it tooks 4days before the technician came… right after that week here comes tuesday again PLDT SERVICE IS DEAD FOR THE THIRD TIME…. i went to PLDT office by thursday i wanted my service to be terminated but the customer care???? daw ask me to give chance until today.. she called MR.VENTURA the technician “head?” daw! and assured me by FRIDAY THATS TODAY the technician is coming. NO TECHNICIAN PA DIN!!!

now iTs friday midnight and i am using my globe sim card searching for the best service provider and i found this blog. WE JUST ALL PROVE HOW SUCK PLDT SMART SERVICE…

I FEEL SORRY FOR THE EMPLOYEES IMPLEMENTING THEIR POOR, HORRIBLE PLDT SYSTEM “IT NOT A SYSTEM AT ALL”. WAKE UP!!! BIG BOSSES…. BAKA MAGISING KAYO WALA NA CUSTOMER NAGTITIWALA SA INYO.

nakakaawa ang mga agent nila 171 customer no service ng PLDT. ginagawa lang silang mga stupid ng PLDT system dun. they tell you na report is being posted, im sorry i cant commit anything, well assured your report is posted and i will call the attention of the concern party. sana ginawa na lang silang talking computer dun.

  250. Sky Broadband used to be better. I never had any problems with them and if ever they were down may reason like Typhoon and the lines got cut. But lately they have been racking up some negative points. I have a standard gold account. 1.5 mbps pero sobra bagal lalo na peak hours of 8 am and 8 pm. and there are times na wala connection for several minutes but usually same time like 10am dito sa Makati. Also been getting alot of problems with their connection being down due to maintenance siguro twice in a month na which was never heard of before. usually mga 8 – 12 hours down.

  251. Fiber optics usually s states un..im a DSL tech support s isang ISP sa states and fiber optics can be as fast as 40mbps downstream and 20mbps upstream..which is possible pa cguro saten sa year 2099 hehehe..
ok nman for me ang PLDT DSL more than 3 years na minsan lng magkaproblem..minsan wala ng kuryente and all pero DSL meron pdin! dont like smart bro too! but i guess it really depends on the location.. even fiber optics in states namimili ng location kc nsa ilalim ung fiber optics na gamit.. its an advanced kind of cable kc na prang speed of light ang dating kaya mbilis pa xa sa cable and DSL connections.. :) share lang ehehe.. :D

  257. For me, the BEST would be BAYAN DSL. Tried PLDT before, pero nagdodown palagi, had to call cust service. We have bayan dslf or 6 months now, NEVER kami nawalan ng connection, except nalang nung naputulan kami. Hehehe. Kaya never ko pa nakausap customer support nila. As you can also see sa post, wala ka mababasang super negative comments. Meaning, talagang maganda siya. It may be slow for congested areas, pero very minimal to no downtime at all.

For those who are not sure what to get, lahat naman halos ng provider eh may trial eh. Go for the the trial first, tanong tanong din sa kapitbahay, kasi it also depends on the area.

So, get the trial first.OBSERVE then DECIDE. Goodluck!

  258. Wireless connections especially those that use USB dongles are pretty useless especially kung sa urban area ka nakatira and madami kayong gumagamit. My friends and I were able to locate several signal towers from Globe, Smart and Sun and signal is good but internet speed is still no where near the published rate even when you are practically next to the tower. And that’s for all of them. The connection is shared with other subscribers so it makes it next to impossible na mareach ung 2mbps. Most of the time nasa less than 40kbps lang nakukuha, para lang mas mastress kung gaano kabagal yan, >15 years ago dial up ang gamit ng mga tao, 56kb speed nun. Ang pinakamagal na wired connection e 384kbps… so unless wala talgang choice stay away from those things…. aksaya sa pera at oras lang aabutin

  259. Just want to ask, after more than three years of blogging, nakapag-decide ka na ba? Ano na napili mo? I’m from Balayan, Batangas. Dito samin, globe at smart bro ang top two choice. Sabi nila malakas dw talaga ung bayandsl sa manila area, kaso wala nun dito sa amin. I also need help choosing between globe and smart bro.

  260. HELP NAMAN PO OHHH…DITO SA MINDANAO .SA NORTH COTABATO,KIDAPAWAN AREA…GAMIT KO PLDT PERO 999 PERO ANG SPEED NIYA 50+KBPS LNG…..

    TULONG NMAN POH OHHH…………. :(

  261. Hi!

My family has been on PLDTDSL and so far ok naman… yung base plan lang kme since pang family lang naman… Though there are times when nagloloko sya if may prob ang PLDT, pero that’s very seldom talaga.

But now, nagpa-plan din ako to get a plan of my own since I moved out na and have a family of my own. I’m torn bet PLDT or one of those cable tv providers na may dsl package.

What’s nice to have kaya now?

Transport Rate: 0.10 Kbps below :arruyyy:
Recieve Rate: 0.80 Kbps below :( im not really satisfied nag 0.00 Kbps nga eh tang ina……

  263. Right now, the best wired DSL providers are either Globe or PLDT.

  265. tulad ng sinabi ng mga katoto natin 4 years ago.. bwisit parin ang smartbro hanggang ngayon.. i’ve sent them several emails complaining about how bad the receive and transmit but it seems THEY DONT CARE. if i only have other options i wouldnt use this ISP.

bwisit talaga.. SMART is not that smart! BWISIT!

  266. taga-Kingsvill ako, tapat ng SM Masinag, at currently, naka-Sun 799 plug-in kami, at balak namin magpa-upgrade ng router gamit ng parehong plug-in unit. Masama ang connection from 6-11:30 PM, ok from midnight until morning, although nung huli sobrang lag even at midnight.

  267. From Kingsville Exec. Village, Antipolo City here. We are currently using Sun plug-in 799, and signal’s bad between 5:30-11:30 PM, and ok from midnight onwards, though as of late, midnight connection lags, too (I was suddenly disconnected at certain times, and would have to reconnect). We are considering an upgrade for the router unit with the same plug-in unit, but considering how bad the internet signal gets, I’m now asking for other options. I usually use twitter, LiveJournal, tumblr, YouTUbe, Yahoo!Mail and Yahoo Messenger on a daily basis. What would be the ideal ISP for these needs (wired, wireless broadband), also considering our location?

Best lesson ko is not to call those f***ing agent (alam naman natin na may SOP sila but they should always put theirselves as a customer and owner as well for the business) but to go to smart center at dun magalit

  270. i live in Santol Q.C. and my isp is PLDT mydsl. it is very disappointing to tell u guys that it sucks. i have been complaining about the speed because my internet connection is seperate from my landline. their technician even advised me i was not getting the right speed. i called not only once but several times and they told me that i’m still under their old platform so it needs to be upgraded. so i asked for a “migration”. i started my complain on nov. 2011 as you can see it’s already march 2012 still no action has been done. the problem with this internet provider PLDT MY DSL is they keep on recruiting new subscribers but they can no longer maintain the old subscribers. why is this? so if i were u guys pls refrain from getting MY DSL and try other isp or u will regret having one. can u suggest one that is suitable for me living in quezon city sta mesa? tnx a lot

  272. WI-TRIBE REALLY SUCKS !! LAGING MABABA , UNG PINANGAKO NILANG INTERNET SPEED WALEY !! ETO NA ATA ANG WORST ISP SA PINAS :dila:

  273. i read the comments in this blog and now i’m undecided where to transfer (what ISP?). currently i’m with smart bro (canopy) and just recently gives me headache for the past 6 months (previously it is quite okay- i’ve been with smart bro for the past 6 years!!)
i had experienced more than 2 days with no internet connection.
now, i would like to switch, but where? some people advise me to go to my DSL but with the reviews here, it’s giving me second thoughts.
    i’m in pasig area.

  274. What is the best isp you could sugest here in metro manila ?? plz i need help .. Naistuck ako sa smart bro walang kakwenta kwenta .. grabe pag nag lalaro ako umaabot sa 1000+ ang ping ko .. tpus pag sa you tube sobrang bagal kadalimang segundo nag bubuffer .. so i suggest na wag mag smart bro if your location is metro manila

  275. @rodel
i’m also using smart bro-canopy (2mbps daw) and for the 2 years of my experience until now, connection is stable but in the whole 2 years, never ko na-meet kahit na 1mbps once I used a speedtest. Most of the time is 500kbps then sometimes it spike to 700kbps, di ko na nireklamo because malayo ang satellite nila sa canopy ko. last month, tried skybroadband and if you are a downloader using torrent, skybroadband is a big NO NO. downloading in torrent lang ang naging problem ko sa kanila so pina-disconnect ko na. now I’m waiting for pldt dsl since my neighbor is using it without any problem (i guess). ‘pldt is sister company of smart’. for globe, globe is also fast as they said but there is a bandwidth cap which i dont know what will happen if you reach that cap

Ok nmn most of the times SBro wag lang hahangin at uulan ng mlakas..kdlasan nwwalan agad ng connection. I also tried applying for Wi-tribe ksi I needed another ISP and to tell you… this is even worse o baka nga worst pagdating sa customer care..biruin nyo nagapply ako nung first week ng Feb with all the reqs. aked nla ibinigay ko…after few days nagkarun nga ako ng connection pero after two days dnisconnect din nla! Reason:May mali/kulang daw sa data ko…then I tried reaching the CSR…wla..wla…at wlang nangyari…instead sabi punta ko daw nearest office nla….so I did…thinking nmn na maayos..ah wla din nangyari..asked nla ung modem na sauli so that the amount I paid na almost P600 ay marefund…and you know what????..until now…this very moment …May11,2012…d pa din nla marefund money ko..ang mas masakit pa pnbblik balik ako sa office to verify if ready na refund…WALA!!!…so sana mkatulong to sa mga nagbblak magpaconnect sa ISP na yan!

  276. :dila: meron po bang taga palawan d2? can u please tell me which isp is the best here? im in puerto princesa city.. im using smart bro, the connction was fast in its first 5months but after a heavy rain it started na bumagal.. sobrang bagal talga na halos gusto ko nalang ma2log na ayaw ko na gumamit ng net… im really disaapointed sa serviice ng smart broadband… parang naka usb kit nalang ako sa sobrang bagal.

  277. Globelines used to be great here in Tacloban, until a week ago wherein our net speed went from 2 mbps to dial up snail speed like 0.2 mbps. 10 times slower! This usually happens every morning up to late night (6AM-12MN) while the rest of the day (1AM-5AM) speed is back to normal. I tried chatting with the staff but they appeared incompetent and useless. This doesn’t just happen at home but also in other areas of Tacloban. I’m disappointed with Globe so unless they fix it until our deadline of payment, we would want to transfer to another ISP. Probably Bayantel DSL.

  278. :sorry: form Baguio city here, irisan to be specific….smartbroadband gamit ko, so far mabilis naman sya..HSDPA madalas ang signal….tapos umaabot ng 2mbps pag nagdadownload ako using YTB. Since I am teaching online, I needed a faster connection kasi pag wireless, hindi naman stable ang connection. SO, pumunta ako sa CSR PLDT. I asked them kung normal lang ba na nawawala ang connection pag may kunting ulan. Sabi naman nila, hindi daw dapat. I asked them again, possible solution ba pag magpa-upgrade na lang pero pareho lang din daw so ginawan nya ng report. Baka daw kasi may wire na nag-loose. Ewan ko ngayon kung ok na. I am also here to hear from you guys kung ano kaya ang fast internet connection dito. Sabi kasi depende sa Area. I’m pretty sure, hindi compatible and PLDT dito…I am planning to apply sa globe sana. Please help me out guys!

  279. SO ayun, basa ako nang basa dito . haha. daming galit. recently, i was using VPN+Globe Tattoo 4g Flash + Globe network = equals 6mbps(burstable speed) or 600KBps download speed..libreng internet yun .

    capital B for bytes,
    small b for bits.

*(globe and smart only) alam mo ang type of connection sa area mo, GPRS ba jan, Edge, 3g, 4g, Hsdpa, HSPA+ ,

    • tama, maganda ung fiberoptic cable gamit. hehe
Check your area, kung may palapit na Headend ISP provider near your area for sure that ISP is for you. Syempre depende din yan sa facility mo. Im using BayanDSL sa roosevelt QC, Since yung Bayan station nila along roosevelt is near on our house so no problem kami while on router or direct sa modem nila.

      :p

  280. IMO, I am using Smart Bro right now. I am using their 3mbps Plug-it broadband(the old black/orange plugit 627 series). I managed to reconfigure it to max-out up to 3.6mbps total bandwidth received. Speedtest.net says my Upload speed is 10kbps and Download is 40kbps. BUT in my own monitoring, I am uploading at min of 40kbps up to 160kbps and I can download up to 465kbps. I can download a 700mb file within 12mins. Do Smart-Bro really suck? For me it’s not. Even all of the same plug-it of different brands I’ve tried. It was way faster than the others(same series and bandwidth[3.0mbps Plug-its]) faster than the Canopy service of SmartBro. I am not joking.

    this the proof https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=291823694170793&set=a.187890281230802.46237.100000294938034&type=3&theater

it wasn’t the fastest pick of that download because when I opened it, i just hit Print screen. More of my friends switched to SmartBro than others.

    • I am using smart bro the rocket plugit I am getting downloads speeds as much as 1.4 mps using vuze for music, apps and movies ect. I use the UNISURF 200 promo over a year now. I only had to contact costumer care with errors to promo only. I will be buying the WiFi Rocket soon with speeds up to 20 mps.. and sharing wifi upto 5 gagets. If there is something better please let me know. Thanks!!

  284. Hi! how were you able to get the Top ISP in Speedtest.net? I’ve been browsing the site, but i can’t seem to find the latest list. thank you!

  285. how about sa WI-TRIBE? mas ok ba un kung wi-fi lng ung gusto q sa bahay? pa help nmn guys.. mahirap kasi pumasok sa contract with monthly subscription nang hnd ka satisfied sa connection mo.. tnx

    • check their website, they have a section where you can request to check coverage info. At least the area can be tested if it works.

    • i’m so sorry but for me wi tribe has the most least and the top slowest internet service provider in the country as in totally, mabagal na paputol-putol pa, don’t try it for soon you’ll definitely regret it

    • Uh, pardon?

IPv6 will only ensure growth of the Internet infrastructure limited by the number of IP Addresses available via the IPv4 Address scheming. IPv6 is not a physical standard, just an address scheming. Kung may DSL pa rin or DOCSIS cable internet using the same infrastructure but using IPv6 kung lolo ka na nga, they’d still have the same issues as us, MAS MADAMI NGA LANG SILA :)

You’re probably looking for Fiber optic connections at home. The latest DOCSIS standard for Cable Internet is DOCSIS 3.0: Network backbone is Fiber Optic, then copper coax lines sa neighborhood. Not sure of Sky Cable already uses them, but I guess they do. AT&T in the US has a service called U-Verse: it’s like the DSL equivalent to DOCSIS 3.0. Then there’s direct Fiber. As in nothing but Fiber Optic either to the outside box on your house then Gigabit Ethernet to your router or modem, or the Fiber Optic goes straight to your router or modem. However, you’d have to be rich to have direct fiber to your house. Yes, a 1 hr youtube video would have fully buffered in seconds, but so will your payslip “buffer” (hahaha) in a couple of days. But still… Gigabit Internet!

  287. I know this post is too old. But to be honest, internet speed depends on how much you paid. It depends on which plan you paid for. I have tested both PLDT and Globe broadband. I paid for 1Mbps at first and got 128KBps of download speed (which is just fine, 1Mbps = 128KBps). Then I upgraded to 2Mbps and had 256KBps of download speed. I just got what I paid for. So for me, speed just depends on which plan you paid.

  288. hey guys.. thanks sa mga information but still my new globe modem is bm622i have problem.and mabilis e2 nung una umaabut ng 2mbps ang DL khit na 1mbps lng e2.. pero this past week I got slow connection thus my computer have problem or the ISP itself?

    Area – Dasmariñas , Cavite 4114

  289. digitel in baliuag, bulacan disconnected all their lines yesterday due to the acquisition of Smart. So paano na internet shop namin? There’s no PLDT lines in our area. Any advise?

  290. Just a new thought guys… I live in Antipolo and the DSL providers here are PLDT and Digitel (not sure if there are still some Digitel subscribers though). They DID work, and when they are working they work good. The problems we encounter isn’t slow speed, but no connections at all. Just plain no sync! The culprit? Not the providers, but thieves stealing copper wires from phone lines. Heard the same thing about cable TV service from some friends.

You guys are all correct about ISPs being strong depending on the area. Weakness naman ng wireless (3G/4G/WiMax) pag walang line of sight (ex. mapuno, cloudy weather) from the broadcasting tower. DSL served us good, but with thieves here willing to even steal a plastic pot for scraps, I have no choice but to go wireless. Eh mapuno dito! But at least Sun Broadband works, so yay! Wi-Tribe also rocks here, check their website and they have a section to request to see if they have coverage in your area before you even decide purchasing, instead of cursing yourself with the purchase but the thing doesn’t work.

Oh, and BTW guys, choose to SAVE TREES. F*ckt@rds from Meralco and PLDT always choose to snip branches away from their lines. WTF? Gaano katagal maglagay ng poste, 25 mins? Gaano katagal magpalago ng puno? A decade!!! In the US, engineers know this, they reroute lines if they have to just to avoid chopping down trees. Here? Who gives a flying f*ck?!

  292. hi good day! naka smart bro ako for 3years now. satisfied naman kaya lang lately nagloloko na. im planning to change my ISP kaso di ko alam kung alin, i’ve read ok yung skybro and digitel. dito kaya sa hagonoy, bulacan ok yun? i hope you can help me. thanks and God bless you all!

    • ganon din ako. i try to use alternative DNS, ngaun ok na sya. tingen ko dun sila may problem sa DNS. kaya gumgamit ko ng alternative DNS.

  293. there are advantages and disadvantages in getting into different types of plans such as post paid and prepaid, the thing is ung service san ba naka base ito is it for personal or for your business, the thing that really matters most eh ung instant customer service na as in they go to your place immediately to assure and look what’s the problem and they build their status out from it, kasi maraming iba dyan na papa cancel mo na ung contract pero nagpapabayad ba ng termination fee na halos ikalugi mo na nga dahil as in totally bulok ung service, for me i think in dsl Bayantel got it all, kasi not only fast in CSR also immdediately deploys their technician sa area mo, plus the benefit of having a bundled landline phone which can really be excellent to do business, I highly recommend this one an internet and phone in one plus a good flow of internet connection :), hope this will help

  294. Hello All,
I am in Texas, USA and considering relocating to The Philippines and/or Hawaii. I do not yet read/write Filipino and/or Tagalog.

What ISP in The Philippines provides speeds in the range or 10Mbps download and 1Mbps upload (as of December 2012 with decent reliability)?

Or, what are my current options in an ISP? So far, as I understand, I should stay away from “Smart Bro”.

    @QC-Gamer,
I know Texas to New York gaming (at less than 1,800 miles) is not fun. Maybe up to 500 miles is fine at 10M down/ 1M up.

    Thank you very much.

(I’m not sure if this will be a new level post, or a reply. Sorry.)

  295. ill be relocating from manila to baguio city.. can anyone tell me the best and fastest internet provider? thanks for all your replies!

  297. There is no BETTER ISP as of now in the PH. It all depends upon the BUNDLE (plan) and your LOCATION. i have been switching from ISP’s to ISP’s but all are the same. before they give you a connection they would survey your location first if it would reach their range of service.

“AFTER SALE” is what i usually look for an Internet Service Provider. Meaning how good their service AFTER they’ve convince you with all their promises that there is guaranteed speed of at least 3/4 your plan, or how they handle customer complains.

If you can afford it look for CABLE Internet, OPTIC FIBER Connection or Business Plan.. but as usual these type of connections have a great deal of price attached..

bottom line is.. survey your area first before considering a Plan with an ISP. :-P

  298. i got 5mbps using globe sa davao city area. super fast! and this is just a tethered internet using my android phone

  299. I’ve been a Sky Broadband user for the longest time i think we had this connection for 2 or 3 years now. I had no problems with it and quite happy with its service until recently. as of the past month the connection is super slow! you can compare it to the dial-up connection of the olden days. feeling ko naka-Blast Internet card ako. :( i tried calling their customer support, they told me that there are no problems sa connection then i tried the speed test. funny thing is when i use the speedtest.net it gives me a good number that is the same as my connection speed which is 1.5mbps. though when im using it to browse sites and stream videos it takes forever! esp when im downloading files. the transfer speed that i get is only at around 30kbps unlike before that my transfer speeds averages at 160-170kbps. annoying talaga! is there a better connection out there for Q.C. area?

  300. Grabe! Nagpost ako dito kelan lang and I said perwisyo yung ISP na nakuha ko, yung Smart Broke! Last year lang bago magtapos ang 2012, I switched na to Sky Broadband… 3mbps plan kinuha ko. Ang ganda saka very fast sa browsing & downloading. Tapos may 15-Day Free Trial pa sila! Everytime I call their hotline, lagi sabi nung automated machine “All Agents are busy now…”

  301. Wah I just checked PLDT’s FB page… andaming nagrereklamo na mga customers! Kakaloka grabe haha

  302. Perwisyo talaga ang SmartBro so I switched to Globe Tattoo (modem), but after a year nagpapakita na ng disconnection (kahit cleared na cache). Take note mga kababayan, the monthly internet connection in UK is less P1000 and THEY ENJOYED WHOPPING 8-12Mbps SPEED. No hassle & no interruption, ganun din daw sa ibang bansa sa Europe. Lipat na lang tayo? :gulat:
