If you encountered this error in Photoshop CS3 and you’re here because you’re looking for a solution to fix this error, you’ve come to the right place! Let’s get to the main point why I am blogging about this Adobe Photoshop error. I googled about it, and I have found out that others encountered this dilemma as well after installing Photoshop CS3. Other PS users encountered the same problem after installing new fonts that are bugged, or should I say “erroneous fonts” or a font that is not compatible with your PC or a font that was bugged, or a bugged font. Hehehe..

Forgive me because I don’t know what’s the appropriate terminology to use. I’ve been using Photoshop CS3 for quite a long time now. I never ncountered this error after installing Photoshop and I have never installed a new font before encountering this error. But I’m glad that I’m not the only one who encountered this Photoshop problem, because I’m not the only one (hehe). And my post title above are present in Google SERPs. Yiheeeeeee! So how did I fix this error? Just google about it and you’ll know, nyahahaha!

P.S.: Seriously, just re-install the fonts, and you’ll fix this error in no time 😉

  3. @Ass – there’s a P.S. in my post that says: Seriously, just re install the fonts, and you’ll fix this error in no time

You should have read it 🙂

  4. install what fonts? i have this error on a brand new pc with a new install of pshop and no additional fonts. the copy paste method from illustrator doesn’t work and you’re no help so thanks for nuthin!

  5. here’s the fix that worked for me:

First remove all of the fonts that were installed by Photoshop. These fonts will all bare the date that you installed PS. You can do this by simple dragging them out of your fonts folder (Windows) into another folder. Then (I did all of this w/o restarting PS) place some text in an image – everything should work fine. Next, copy all of the fonts back into the fonts directory. Select the text that you place previously and then click in the drop-down box that allows you to select the font. Keep pressing your down arrow until you receive the error message again. When you get the error message you have discovered the problem font. Remove it from your fonts directory and you will be good to go.

  6. @Wron – re install all the fonts in your Fonts folder. Here Windows/Fonts

there are fonts that are installed by photoshop and it’s what causes the error. There are also fonts that are installed online that causes the same error.

So, the best thing to do is reinstall all windows fonts 🙂 If you’re using a PC, and MAC fonts if you’re on a MAC.

Btw, thanks for sharing your solution 🙂

  7. Thank you Jehzeel and Wron. Finally after days of grief you two have helped me solve this issue. Now I can sleep.

  8. okay so i know what the problem font is and ive reinstalled it but still no luck, not to mention the font used to work but now it wont

  9. I use Windows 7 + PS CS3.
I also had to reboot into Safe Mode (F5) to be able to remove alot more of the fonts. Then I reinstalled again (just drag-n-drop them back to the Fonts folder).

  10. All i did to get it working again was delete the files in this directory…

    C:\Users\YOUR_USER_NAME\AppData\Local\Adobe\TypeSupport\CS5\

  11. None of those tricks worked for me. I had to do open up synaptics package manager, and search for ttf-mscorefonts-installer, and mark it for reinstall. Viola, it works perfect.
