Good thing none of the drivers were seriously hurt but the expensive cars had a fair share of great damage.

It’s a 14-car pile up crash that was triggered when one of the Ferrari drivers lost control while trying to change lanes. A domino-like crash then damaged eight Ferraris, three Mercedes Benz, and a Lamborghini. The authorities didn’t disclose the exact amount of the casualties but it is estimated to be reaching 3 million US dollars. The said incident said to have shut down the Chugoku Expressway, a major highway in the Yamaguchi Prefecture, for nearly six hours.

The driver responsible for the said crash was identified to be a 60-year-old self-employed man from Fukuoka prefecture. He may be facing three months behind bars or will pay a fine of as much as 100,000 yen ($1,280), said Isejima, executive officer for Yamaguchi Prefecture’s Expressway Traffic Police unit.

“what a horrible way of losing a lot of money!” says L. Samachi, a Japanese entrepreneur who’s into boats for sale in Philippines and a Ferrari enthusiast. “accidents are really inevitable, it can happen even to the most expensive cars,” Samachi added.

This is yet to be the first-ever Androidland in the world. This has been the claim of the Australian mobile carrier Telstra. For the first time, Google collaborated with such company to promote their mobile operating system Android, thus the birth of Androidland.

It is a 154sqm space in Bourke Street Melbourne Telstra outlet fully designed in an apple-green ambiance. This is where the latest Android gadgets would be displayed and customers get to experience the Android world within the vicinity. Google apps can be manipulated in their huge screens like Google Earth and get to play Angry Birds in a totally different way.

The entire place is not just a display center but rather a theme-park-esque. The place also houses Google trained personnel for comprehensive explanations rest assured all questions and queries would be well addressed.

Google might have been powering several phones with Android few years ago but they didn’t really have their own niche like rivals Apple Inc and RIM. Maybe it’s the right time to have one. They will surely be having several Androidlands all through out the globe in the coming years.

An avid Android user Chris Bech get to visit the place and was totally amazed. Chris Bech and his entire family own several android phones and tablets that they’ve been carrying wherever they go.

Nokia Corporation was once a world leader when it comes to telecommunication. Unfortunately they were not able to keep up with their competitors and now their products can’t barely penetrate the market. Though they still release new products, it’s not that appealing anymore to the public. A lot has been asking what seemed to have caused such downfall.

Early this year, they announced that will be cutting of 6,800 research and development jobs as they are trying to get back on track. In addition to that, the company announced Thursday that an additional 3,500 jobs will be cut off from the manufacturing department next year. Still it is a part of their cost saving strategies to stand once again.

Being on top is indeed very challenging most especially if you’re in a business wherein the competition is very tight.
Social entrepreneur Chris Bech once said that you should be sensitive of the society and see to it that the business you’re starting should be inclined to their needs. Nokia should have foreseen these things before there competitors so that their spot won’t taken away from them.

Everyone’s hoping that Nokia would be able to get through all these. After all their contribution to the mobile world has been exceptional.

Almost every week, news phones have been released by different mobile phone manufacturers. This latest LG phone that was reviewed by Engadget a day ago is not really new, but it’s new to my eyes and to my ears that’s why I’m writing about it. This is not LG’s first 4G phone. I really don’t know if this is the second or the third LG 4G phone, and I don’t care about it.

This is just another new device that I think current Android owners won’t get. Only die hard LG fans who collect phones for their daily pleasure. It’s just like the LG Optimus 3D, but now with 4G capabilities. If you want to check the complete specifications of this phone, check it out at GSM Arena. If you want a thorough review, you can always rely on Engadget.

And oh, this phone that I’m talking about is the LG Thrill 4G. Sorry for not mentioning it early in this post. Honestly, I almost forgot to mention its name. Haha!

Btw, its price at AT&T is only $100.00. So get it now if you want to. If you don’t want to buy it, then don’t.

It has been a common knowledge to everyone that the biggest planet in our solar system is Jupiter. Biggest would mean, all the other planets including its moons could fit in with a lot of spaces to spare. However, in the study of astronomy, scientists couldn’t just grasp the scope of the giant planet. All they know is that it is being surrounded by its stormy clouds and beyond that part is still unknown. Jupiter “spots” are actually hurricanes which are twice as big as our planet and has been swirling for hundreds of years already.

You just can’t blame all these scientists if their curiosity would be arising as time goes by. That’s why, for the very first time in the history of NASA, a solar-power probe would be sent right through the stormy cloud of Jupiter this week. They called the probe Juno. It is named after the ancient Roman goddess who spied through clouds on her husband Jupiter. Just as what the probe going to do. It will go through the stormy clouds and discover the secrets of the huge planet. Its its 1,740 million mile journey will begin Friday launching from Cape Canaveral in Florida.

The entire trip og Juno will last 5 years. By fall 2017, the probe is expected to have completed 34 elliptical, polar orbits around Jupiter then would finally disintegrate into Jupiter’s depth.

This mission cost 1.1 billion and it is being managed by the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in California. The things that the probe would reveal to us is believed to be very essential in the history of our planet. According to the mission’s principal investigator, Scott Bolton, “We are after the recipe for planet-making. To get the list of ingredients — this is the place.”

Among the remnants of the Sun which had collapsed in it’s gravity roughly 4.5 billion years ago, Jupiter retained most of its features. Scientists believed that whatever element that we have in our planet originated in Jupiter.

“It ties right back to us,” Bolton said. “These are the elements of life, the elements that Earth is made out of. How Jupiter managed to get enriched in these elements is right at the essence of how we got here,” he added.

Whatever would be the information that this probe would bring unto us still remains a mystery until the mission would be successfully completed. Let’s just hope for the best.

Today marks the start of the Holy Fasting Month of the Muslims known as the Ramadan. Unlike the universally used Gregorian calendar which is based on the sun, Ramadan is part of the Muslim Hijrah calendar is based on the moon. However, there are places wherein they are starting it 1-2 days late because it is based on the sighting of the crescent moon or new moon would mark its start and the appearance of the next new/crescent moon would mark its end. It usually lasts 29-30 days. Its official announcement would be made by the Darul Ifta (organization of Islamic scholars). Food and drinks are skipped during daylight hours (from dawn till dusk).

This is also the time of the year wherein Muslims will have an overhaul of their spiritual life. They will not just fast for food and water but would also keep their thoughts pure, actions desired and words nice, kind and gentle. This is a practice that would train the Muslims of becoming a person with purified body and soul in their entire life.

Since Muslims are also human beings, there are instances wherein observance of the Ramadan would be impossible which would include sickness and old age. If in the course of Ramadan the Muslim gets sick, he is allowed to skip the fasting and will just make up for the number of days. He or she should finish the entire process for 29-30 days. Old Muslims also have a choice of having the ‘fidyah”. It means “feeding of the needy”. Instead of having the fasting, they would feed at least two needy persons for one month.

This year’s Ramadan is of great challenge to all the Muslims in the world because of the crisis that has been happening in Arab countries like Yemen, Libya and Syria. They are all calling out everyone to prayers and desire that the entire Muslim community would have their longed peace and harmony.

SHANGHAI — Yao Ming made it official Wednesday, telling a packed news conference in his hometown that a series of injuries have forced him to retire from basketball.

The Houston Rockets center, who has become a household name in China and one of the stars of the NBA since his career as the top draft pick in 2002, confirmed weeks of speculation about his retirement by stating: “I will formally end my career.”

Yao played eight seasons in the NBA, but missed 250 regular-season games the past six years.

Yao said he had been steeling himself for this day and thanked his family and friends for helping him handle the decision to stop playing.

“Today is an important day for me and holds a special meaning for both my basketball career and my future,” Yao said in comments translated into English. “I had to leave the court since I suffered a stress fracture in my left foot for the third time at the end of last year. My past six months were an agonizing wait. I had been thinking (about my future) over and over. Today I am announcing a personal decision: ending my career as a basketball player and officially retire. But one door is closing and another one is opening.”

Yao said he will return to work with his former Chinese team, the Shanghai Sharks, with the possibility of becoming general manager. He plans to continue his philanthropic work with his Yao Foundation.

“Yao Ming has been a transformational player and a testament to the globalization of our game,” Stern said in a statement. “His dominant play and endearing demeanor along with his extensive humanitarian efforts have made him an international fan favorite and provided an extraordinary bridge between basketball fans in the United States and China”, NBA commissioner David Stern said.

He thanked his family, friends, coaches in China and in Houston and fellow competitors like Shaquille O’Neal “for making me a better player.”

Yao played in 77 games in the 2008-09 season, when Houston reach the second round of the playoffs for the first time since 1997.

But Yao broke his left foot in a postseason game against the Los Angeles Lakers, and underwent complex surgery that sidelined him for the entire 2009-10 season. He lasted only five games at the start of the 2010-11 season, before breaking his left ankle. He underwent surgery in January, and was lost again for the season.

Yao had played six years with the Chinese national team before joining the Rockets, and was already a star in his home country.

He carried the Olympic torch through Tiananmen Square and his country’s flag during the opening ceremonies at the Beijing Olympics in 2008.

A Ticketmaster processing error has caused around 700 people to be charged twice for London 2012 Olympic tickets.

People who bought tickets in the first phase of the ‘second chance’ sale were affected. Around 150,000 people in total bought tickets at this stage.

The company says it has refunded all those affected and is confident there are no more cases still to be found.

This is the latest in a series of embarrassments which Ticketmaster has faced while running the London 2012 sale.

The initial six week application window had to be extended because many people were unable to log on to the website in the hours leading up to the deadline.

Now Ticketmaster has been forced to apologise for a mistake that is believed to have led to a number of those using debit cards to incur overdraft charges.

Ticketmaster said that it would contact all those customers who were affected before the end of the day and would work with them “directly regarding any issues they may have experienced”.

In a statement the company said: “We are aware of a Ticketmaster processing error affecting a small number of customers who purchased tickets during the London 2012 Olympic Games second chance ticketing process. This resulted in recent payment for tickets being processed in error twice on 6 July 2011.

The London 2012 ticketing system has faced a lot of criticism since it opened.

When the second chance sale opened three weeks ago, users of the London 2012 website faced problems buying tickets due to high demand.

It was then found that problems during the second sale meant that 15,000 people did not get the tickets they thought they had bought.

Meanwhile, in the first round of sales, which started in March, 1.2
million people failed to get any tickets. In addition, the website crashed offline on 26 April after people rushed to buy tickets during the final hours before the deadline.

There has been a new lottery game in UK called IVF (In-Vitro Fertilization) lottery wherein the prize is a £25,000 ($40,175) worth of fertility treatment in one of UK’s top five fertility clinics. The Britain’s Gambling Commission has already granted them with the necessary permit and it will start to run on the 30th of July. The ticket costs £20 each that can be bought online.

The lottery has been catchy for all single, gay and elderly players as well as heterosexual couples who are struggling to start a family. The winner will undergo the standard IVF procedure and in cases that it would fail, he or she can choose one of the other options which includes reproductive surgery, donor eggs and sperm or a surrogate birth. The package of the prize is truly an evidence of an “ultimate wish list”. That is how founder and chair of the charity, Camille Strachan described it.

However, the charity received so much condemnation from the ethical group of the community. As what has been posted in Reuters, Josephine Quintavalle of the campaign group Comment on Reproductive Ethics said that “creation of human life should not be reduced to a public lottery … this demeans the whole nature of human reproduction.”

Furthermore, The Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority also said that using IVF as a prize was “wrong and entirely inappropriate.”

The Gambling Commission reacted in the issue but stressed out that it doesn’t have any regulatory powers to intervene with the program and that particular power of revoking the license belongs to the government.

Based on the latest count of the fertility regulator, 1 out of 7 is suffering from fertility problems. This IVF has already been producing 15,000 babies to 40,000 patients who took the treatment last 2008.

David Haye has urged Wladimir Klitschko to challenge him to a money-spinning rematch after his one-sided defeat in Hamburg on Saturday night.

The Ukrainian enjoyed a resounding points victory at the Imtech Arena to add Haye’s WBA heavyweight title to his own IBF and WBO belts.

Haye’s future has been called into question following the bout and whether he will now retire in October as previously stated or prolong his career by taking on Klitschko again.

However, the Ukrainian has revealed he has set his sights on the winner of the bout between unbeaten British contenders Dereck Chisora and Tyson Fury, who meet on July 23 in London.

The Daily Telegraph has learned that Haye could be offered a shot at Klitschko’s elder brother, Vitali, if he retains his World Boxing Council heavyweight title against Tomasz Adamek. The suggestion came from Bernd Boente, who manages both Klitschko brothers.

“I know Haye intends to retire in October, but the fight we would like to see is Vitali Klitschko against David Haye,” Boente said. “But Vitali will first fight Adamek in October. Then I would like to see Haye versus Vitali. It is a fight I have in my mind, and it is definitely possible. I think it would be a good fight, and a great promotion – Haye’s chance to redeem himself against the other Klitschko.”

It would require complex negotiations for the fight to go ahead and Haye no longer has the bargaining chip of a world title after his defeat on Saturday night. The Londoner surrendered his World Boxing Association belt as he failed to find a way past the ramrod jab of Klitschko, who already held the World Boxing Organisation and International Boxing Organisation titles.

Haye believes he should be allowed the opportunity to fight Klitschko again. “Hopefully, Wlad looks at the numbers,” Haye said. “There’s no one out there for him. Look at the sums. It makes economic sense. The ball is in his court.
