Catherine Zeta-Jones Checks Into A Mental Health Facility – Only Three months after Michael Douglas told “Today’s” Matt Lauer that “I’ve got cancer beat,” his beautiful wife, Catherine Zeta-Jones, has checked herself into a mental health facility.

The Hollywood actress has been by her husband’s side since he was diagnosed with throat cancer last fall. According to her rep, the actress is seeking treatment for bipolar II disorder.

The couple began dating in March 1999, even though Douglas was still married. Zata-Jones claims that when they met, he used the line “I’d like to father your children.” They became engaged on 31 December 1999, and were married at the Plaza Hotel in New York on November 18, 2000. They have two children, a son and a daughter.

According to the Mayo Clinic, Bipolar II disorder is less severe than bipolar I disorder. It causes irritability and mood swings occurring as often as several times a day, or as seldom as few times a year.

Her rep confirms: “After dealing with the stress of the past year, Catherine made the decision to check into a mental health facility for a brief stay to treat her bipolar II disorder. She’s feeling great and looking forward to starting work this week on her two upcoming films.”

Her upcoming films include dramedies ‘Playing the Field” and “Lay the Favorite.”
