UNIX Time Stamp

Monday, June 12th, 2006

What is the unix time stamp?
The unix time stamp is a way to track time as a running total of seconds. This count starts at the Unix Epoch on January 1st, 1970. Therefore, the unix time stamp is merely the number of seconds between a particular date and the Unix Epoch. This is very useful to computer systems for tracking and sorting dated information in dynamic and distributed applications both online and client side.

What happens on July 8, 2038?
On this date the Unix Time Stamp will cease to work. But by then we’ll all be using 64-bit processors in our computers solving this potential date of death for millions of applications. This is not considered a major concern by trusted experts in the computer science industry.

Could not complete your request because the file-format module cannot parse the file

Friday, April 14th, 2006

This is a Photoshop CS3 Error that I encountered after opening a PNG file that is suppose to be a readable format by Photoshop. This “could not complete your request because the file-format module cannot parse the file” error pops up after I opened the file. The only solution that I can think of to open the file is open it to another editor, like Microsoft Picture Viewer. Save it as PNG again, then open it again in Photoshop and it works just fine.
