Filipina Writing Project Awards Night

Thursday, November 29th, 2007

Congratulations to all of the winners :P yun lang.. hehehe… ^_^ for the official list of winners, please CLICK HERE!

*after a few seconds..*

I’m back!! First of all I would like to thank Betsy for giving me chocolates and a rare exotic souvenir (hulaan niyo nalang ano yun :P). We were the early birds during the event because we are not late, and we are suppose to be earlier than Ma’am Janette, but they went upstairs first, that’s why we are not earlier than them, but we should be, because blah blah blah.. hahaha.. (ang gulo ko ba? hehe) So much for that unnecessary intro, let’s get to the eating session na! :) After signing that deceiving Google attendance sheet (it’s deceiving because it is indicated in there that all who have signed up will have a free Google Adwords Coupon worth $25.00! but ate Aileen never ever gave a single Adwords Coupon.. hmmmp! *joke lang hehe*), and writing our name on our name badge, and attaching the name badge sticker onto our shirts, ahmmm?? and.. and… I forgot what’s next. I suffered from amnesia a few seconds after that sticking thing. What I remembered next was the food. Yeah, the food! There was a giant lechon baboy on the buffet table, and other viands that I really don’t know what’s the exact name of it, all I can surmise was a soup with thick noodles submerged in its fluid and a floating yellow-something spheroidal mass that tastes like egg yolk :P (whew, pinahaba pa ang itlog.. hahaha!). Sooooo… so much for the food. I would like to mention the “new” friends that I met during the event. I met Ada and rest of the Techno Sisters, Ada was a famous web gal who was also known as Starsapphire, this girl was so talented in creating friendster layouts during the Friendster™ Age, also known as the Philippines Friendster Invasion. I also met Arbet of AWB Holdings, Aiza of Typing Free, Joyce of Life in High Heels and Miniskirts, Sustines (The Full-time Blogger!) of Selaplana.com, with his famous speech “Wala akong trabaho, wala akong negosyo, pero meron akong bisyo” heehee :P

I also met again my good old blogger friends: Betsy of Sui Generis, Marhgil Macuha of Macuha.com, Jay of TitikPilipino.com, ate Aileen of (i forgot, di kasi familiar yung blog nya.. hehe) *joke lang :P*, eto link niya ohhh…, Ederic of Tinig.com, and… the late comers! hahahaha! Ang Lolo Niyo, Anne, and Chel! Yiheeeeee!

After the event, we went to Enzo’s birthday! Yiheee! (alam niyo na yun mga late comers :P) We really had a very fun time! Enzo Enzo Enzo!! hehe.. :)

Congrats din pala sa table namin, it was a lucky table indeed! Betsy and Aiza both won $100.00, Betsy also won a Google Developer Day T-shirt from the raffle! (yan betsy, ang pangarap mong google shirt natupad na rin.. yiheee!), Marhgil grabbed the first place in the Filipina SEO Contest (Received $200.00 for topping Yahoo Search and Google), a Flash Light from Wellcom, and a 300 worth Buy n Sell Ads from AlfoxComputer.com, Joyce won a $25 Gift Check from RegaloService.com, Arbet won a leche flan! and I won a pack of walnut brownies, and macaroons.. heehee :) at… at.. may free Digital Filipino Club membership pala ako! Yiheeee! it’s for the Filipina Podcast Entry :P

That’s all for now guys… ;)

Okay, to gain more traffic, I should post other misspelled words of Vedio. These are Vidio, Vidios, and Vedios. Vidios is the plural form of Vidio, and Vedios, is the plural form of Vedio. These words are bringing me traffic everyday.

Try googling it again, and type V I D E O, yes, it’s VIDEO, and if you’re looking for a lot of it, try searching for VIDEOS!

That’s it, I hope this post is USEFUL, and have helped you to your journey in finding the VIDEO that you are looking for! :)

Thenkya Dear Subscribers!

Saturday, November 24th, 2007

Thank you to all of my dear subscribers, without you, I have zero subscribers. :P Nyeeee… hehehe.. Actually, it’s because of you, that’s why my fingers are still moving, and pressing these keys on my keyboard. You are the life blood of my blog, the greatest measure of its success, the most important factor that keeps this web blog breathing day after day. Without you, my dearest readers, my blog is nothing but a fragment of chaffy leaf full of gobbledygook. You enticed me to keep the microchip of this blog processing, you lubricated the parts of this blog’s machine that’s why it’s whirring smoothly without friction, you are the batteries that energized this blog, and if you leave, my blog will finally meet its wailing and sullen fate.

I have reached this far, only because of you. My ratified rank increased, and reached the 23rd place, because of you. The number of my subscribers aggrandized from 100, to 200, because of you. I’m writing this letter of gratitude and it’s all because of you.

I don’t know each and everyone of you, that’s why I can’t thank you individually. I hope Feedburner™ can show all my subscribers’ names, but that feature is currently hidden in black and white. Hehe… I really really want to thank you one by one, but I can’t, because your like someone that is behind a very thin veil, but not visible for me to see. I can feel that you’re around me, an indefinite physical response to my stimulus keeps on revolving all over me. You are silent, mysterious and deeply profound, but I can sense the warmth of your presence, feeling its comfort and solace during the times that I can only think of nothing, but myself. I feel so alone, if you’re not there. You are my friend, my companion, my ally, and forever, I do hope, that you’ll always be the same. We may depart ways but then again, when we close our eyes and listen to the echoes of our hearts, we will hear that feeling resounding silently forever.

At Google TechTalk

Wednesday, November 21st, 2007

After 2 days of being offline, and 4 days of thinking what am I going to post about Google TechTalk, I finally figured out what to write about the said event. Oh well, so much for these nonsensical chitchats. 3:00 PM, I went to Greenbelt, sent an SMS to Ate Aileen, bragging to her that I was early, and asking for directions of how to get to ACCEED. She then asked me to buy a Straw na Pantali at National Bookstore. At first, I really don’t know what’s that straw na pantali thing, I replied asking for a description of that mentioned stuff. Later, I found out that it was a tie box. After I bought the pantali, I rushed to ACCEED, pretending that I know its whereabouts until I end up as a wanderer, looking for a place that I really can’t locate where it is. My sensory motor ebbed to zero, until Ate Aileen gave me a ring, and told me that ACCEED is AIM Conference Center. I wonder where did the “D” come from, or what is its definition. I asked the guard outside AIM Conference Center about Google TechTalk, then he told me to take the elevator and go to the 8th floor. :) *ting-ting*

*On the 8th floor of AIM building*… I saw Ate Aileen, with Sweetie (oops.. with her Sweetie I mean… of TitikPilipino.com). I also met the Google Engineers from Mountain View, California, and the famous Markku of RebelPixel.com and Dax of Force Analytics, setting up the Cliquebooth. After a few seconds of rehydration, ate Aileen asked me to stick the schwag coupons randomly under the chairs of the event guests, there are 200 chairs, but only 60 coupons. The lucky ones who can take a seat on one of these 60 golden chairs with schwag coupons can take home a Google Developer Day T-shirt! After the first task, AJ Matela of Baklaako.com arrived, and ate Aileen’s friends: Anne, Chel, and Cel. Ate Aileen gave us instructions of what to do during the main event.

I can’t think na… Waaaaaa! Let’s end the event na :). After the event… We went home, and slept. Hehehe… During the main event pala, we ate Lasagna, Beef Steak, Pork Chop, Lechon Baboy, Giant Prawns, Giant Lobsters, Fried Chicken, Pork Barbecue, and so much more! (hehehe) and dito muna, wala na me maisip na ma post :) Nagamit ko din pala ang mahiwaga kong Calling card na galing pang Malaysia na pasalubong sa akin ni Batang Yagit, nakipag exchange ako kay Juned, JayDJ, and Markku. At… wala na akong ma kwento :) Here are some pics during the Google Developers Night, courtesy of Cliquebooth.com:

Do I look younger in the pics? :P

P.S.: Sorry for the grammatical errors above, talagang ma error ako mag sulat :P My english grammar I.Q. is below zero. :P Please leave a comment to help the Slow Learner improve his english skills.. heehee :) Thanks!

Vedio Update

Saturday, November 17th, 2007

I ranked 3rd out of six million results for the keyword “Vedio” on Yahoo! Search, and ranked 20th on Google. Here’s a Yahoo! screenshot below.

I would like to share a simple technique of how to optimize your blog post. You can submit to web directories, you can use your blog post URL as a signature in web forums with thousands of daily visitors such as Digital Point Forums, Site Point, ASP.NET or phpBB, you can also link your blog post URL to your blogs. I’ve learned all of these tips from Marhgil. But there’s one simple way to optimize your post, and it’s not mentioned in Marhgil’s “How to Get Those One-Way Links” post.

Have you ever asked a question in Yahoo! Answers? or have you ever answered any question in Yahoo! Answers? Have you ever used Yahoo! Answers to optimize your blog post? If not, you can use it by adding your post URL to the source list of your answer. Promoting URLs in Yahoo Answers is prohibited, but you can use the source list to insert your blog post URL. It’s a great way to have a one-way link that points directly to your blog post, and it can also be a source of visitors from Yahoo! Answers. Just a mini Vedio update :)

I hope Widgetbucks is not a scam…

Thursday, November 15th, 2007

It has been a month and two weeks before Widgetbucks made their decision to invalidate all clicks not coming from the United States and Canada. There are so many negative reviews and rants regarding Widgetbucks on Digital Point forums and other blogs, but I still do believe that Widgetbucks is not a scam. I’m an avid fan of this program, and hoping for the success of it. As you can see, even my header was changed to go with the design and color of Mpire’s widget. A vast number of Widgetbucks publishers are banned without reason, without any prior notice, and without any warnings. But these factors don’t give full proof that Widgetbucks is a big scam.

As I’ve noticed, only those who earns high (above $1000.00) are banned from the program. It seems that they can’t afford to pay publishers with high revenue through PPC, or it’s the publishers’ fault by not abiding with the terms and conditions of Widgetbucks. Many seems to be honest that they didn’t commit any click fraud or any unpleasant act against the program, but we can’t read their minds if what they say is true or not.

As for me, I’ll still be patient and wait for my first Widgetbucks payment thru Paypal this December. The first payment would probably be released by the middle of December as the Widgetbucks team promised. If I will not receive any payment, then I’ll conclude that Widgetbucks is absolutely a big scam and a waste of time to deal with. Let’s wait and see before we arbitrate that it’s just gibberish.

My mini-SEO achievements…

Monday, November 12th, 2007

While I was browsing macuha.com, I was surprised when I saw his screenshot on his post entitled, “The Top 7 Pinay Scandals in Yahoo“. As you can see, Jehzlau Concepts ranked 1 on Yahoo Search using the keyword “Pinay Scandal“. I did my own search about it, and was so happy that I really made it to the number 1 spot. Here’s my screeny below:

(Geez, people would really think that my blog is an archive of pinay scandals.. hahaha!)

Btw, my blog is not all about Pinay Scandals, I also ranked 1st for the keyword “Google Interview Quiz” in Google Search. It’s more than 2 million results, that’s why it’s quite an SEO achievement for me.. nyahahaha! But this keyword doesn’t have enough search volume to show graphs, based on Google Trends. *sigh*

My DOST-SEI Online Community website also ranked 1st in MSN, Khoops, Google and Yahoo for the keyword “DOST scholars”.

I also ranked first for the keyword “MAKE MONEY ONLINE” yiheeeeee!!! I was really really overjoyed when I saw my blog on the Number 1 spot! I never expected that I made it on the first page in all major search engines using that bloody competitive keyword! Yesterday it was Carl Ocab, but today, it was Jehzeel Laurente! Yay! I can’t believe it until I woke up, and realized that it’s all just a dream. (nyahahahhaa!)

Need a web host with unmetered bandwidth?

Saturday, November 10th, 2007

If your web traffic is to high… if you always exceed your monthly allocated bandwidth… if you’re invariably having a headache due to your bandwidth limit and craving for a web host that offers unlimited bandwidth, then Gossimer.com is the right web hosting company for you! Gossimer is the only web hosting company that offers unmetered bandwidth so far. I have never seen such web hosting company that gives unmetered bandwidth, but I have seen a hosting company that offers unlimited disk space, but not bandwidth.

If I were to choose a hosting account that offers unlimited bandwidth or disk space [but you can only have 1 option], I would go for unlimited bandwidth rather than going for unlimited disk space. A bandwidth has a greater factor than a disk space, if your website has a very large amount of traffic. But if you just want a personal storage for your files online, like MP3s, images, and other important files, and you don’t have a website that has a huge number of daily visitors, then don’t settle for a web host with an unlimited bandwidth.

Gossimer.com is a not-so-cheap web hosting company. Their cheapest webhosting plan ranges from $5.00 to $71.00, depending on how many months you want to host your site. Their business plan, that comprises their unmetered bandwidth offer ranges from $29.00 to $360.00.

So if you want the best value for your money, a free 24-hour technical support, an unlimited bandwidth, and a 100% up-time guarantee, go for Gossimer web hosting now! and experience their one-of-a-kind web hosting package.

A Glimpse of Greenbelt 5

Thursday, November 8th, 2007

For those who have not yet seen and for those who are interested to take a glimpse of the newest addition to the spectacular malls of Ayala, here it is! the fifth Greenbelt situated at the heart of Makati. Greenbelt 5 also known as GB5 is the newest Ayala mall that was opened last… ahmmm..? I really don’t know when is the exact date it was opened, we’re just surprised (Batang Yagit, Inzy, and I) that it was now open to the public. We took a quick stroll inside this mall before Batang Yagit’s flight to Davao City. We were just curious if it was open or not, that’s why we are very eager to take a closer look at it, or possibly get inside this fresh-from-the-oven Ayala mall.

A panoramic view of Greenbelt 5 from Greenbelt 3

Inside Greenbelt 5

Those are some of the photos we’ve taken inside Greenbelt 5. Only a few number of stores are open inside this luxurious mall. As you’ve noticed, it has a state-of-the-art architecture, its chandeliers are like extravagant stalactites exclaiming its exquisite and lavishing beauty. The random arrangement of stairs is like a replica of famous architectural landmark that I really can’t recall what it is. The lights above its atrium resembles a not-so-alien-like constellation and a montage of an out-of-this-world edifice.

To come to an end, Greenbelt 5 is just another masterpiece of Pinoys, and something that we Filipinos should be very proud of… (naks naman…)

P.S.: To those who have not yet experienced GB5, visit it now, and be one of the first to enjoy the latest Ayala mall.

Vedio: Defined and Elaborated

Tuesday, November 6th, 2007

Vedio is a 5 letter word that is undefined in the Merriam-Webster Dictionary. People from Morocco often misspells the word Video as Vedio. Algerians, Egyptians, Indians and Sri Lankans did the same spelling mistake, but not as often as the Moroccians or Morrocs (according to Batang Yagit).

So why are these people doing the same stupid mistake over and over again? It’s just because they don’t know the correct spelling of it. They are just so curious what is this Vedio thing, then started to explore about it with the help of the Internet. If you’ll google about vedio, it would return almost 7 million search results! Now, as you’ve noticed, it’s not only the mentioned nationalities above makes this obvious mistake, but also people from different countries. Well, for others, they don’t mind if they spelled it wrongl or not, the important thing is there are results about their query.

So even if it’s not found in the dictionary, they won’t bother, as people all over the world wide web accepted it as the correct spelling of such word. Others, I think, accepted it as a synonym of video, while others applied it as a word with the same definition of video. As far as I can see, and based on the search trends, there are still so many people who are unaware that the keyword that they are using is a misspelled word, specially in the mentioned countries above, because they are included in the top 10 “VEDIO FANATICS” based on Google Trends™ hehehe… All of these are just my observations, you judge! :)

How to stop Blogspot spammers?

Monday, November 5th, 2007

If you’ve turned off your comment moderation inside your blogger account, you won’t be able to stop those nasty spammers. Well, it’s just based on my experience. I don’t know how to stop Blogspot spammers if my comment moderation is turned OFF. The best thing to do it delete all spams that was posted in each entry. Now, that’s a lot of work…

To prevent this your should always turn your comment moderation ON, and approve comments that you think it’s not a spam.

But, how will you determine if it’s a spam or not? If your keen enough, you will notice that these spam messages are repeatedly copy-pasted over and over again. It will contain such messages like: Wow Nice Blog, You have a great article, or stuffs like, Visit our websites, or visit this with so many links containing various websites that might catch your interest. Most of these links contains adult stuff, breast enhancers, and many other links similar to it.

I hope Google will add a spam filtering feature to blogger, like Akismet or Spam Karma that is only available to Wordpress. Maybe there is one, but I still don’t know what it is, or where to find it…

The main reason why I posted about this spamming thing is because I was suffering from a serious human-like comment spammer. My old posts, starting from October 2006 was spammed by this robot from titanichost.com. If anyone of you here, who knows how to stop this threat, kindly leave me a comment, and help me stop this spam :(
